Was that the year the T-bird went large? I remember a friend of mine got one and it didn't look like a T-bird to me. Still gotta love those Stingrays!!!!!

That depends on what you mean by "large". They went from 2-seats to four in 1958 and just kept getting bigger & bigger from then on.

The Galaxy 500 reminded me of the one my former SCUBA instructor had. He swapped the engine with a diesel motor from a tractor (Apologies for not being able to recall which tractor) back in 1965. Amazingly, it gave him the speed he craved and the benefit of a cheaper fuel. (It was less than regular gas, at that time.)

1955-1957 Thunderbirds are referred to as "Baby Birds". Strictly 2-seaters. From '58 forward T-birds were built with a rear seat. Several years after Ford discontinued Thunderbird production they reintroduced a modern take on the original 2-seat design in, I believe, the early 2000s. IMHO those newer offerings were neat looking cars but the demographic Ford was targeting never warmed up to them.
I had a 1976 T-bird that was practically the same size as a 2-door Continental! Emerald green vinyl top and matching leather upholstery....what was I thinking!

#3 actually seems to be a 1964, as per this from Wiki: "Minimal trim and mechanical changes were made for 1964, with the most identifiable distinguishing features being a raised stylized "R" hood emblem and "R" emblems replacing the Buick crests in the taillight lenses."

Sorry, no other VW photos.

Touchè sir. I learned something new today. Thanks KT.

In 1978 I bought a 1957 V-8 Ford pickup with four on the floor for $750. It had 76,000 or so miles. It was my daily driver for the next 20 years. One day I left my driveway and headed down a steep hill. The brakes failed. Thank goodness for the emergency brake. I backed it up into the driveway and never drove it again. It was simply too far gone for me to spend any more money on it. I donated it. I got a tax deduction receipt for $4800.

Nice captures. My second new car was a 1966 Mustang--loved the lines of that car! (I many years later bought a rebuilt one and it's still in my garage.)
