Yes, the Avanti is in great shape. The thing I remember about them is the "Boom!" they made when they were started. The imitations - with the square headlight surrounds - didn't have that sound.
Did you watch Mr. Ed back in the day Jerry? If you'll recall Wilbur had a white Avanti (and a beautiful wife <Carol>!) :#))
I look forward to seeing these photos every day. I can't look at that '64 T'Bird convertible without thinking of the Beach Boys' song "Fun, Fun, Fun". I was 17 and " cruisin' the hamburger stand" myself but doing it in a battered '53 Chevy. Good times.

I'll bite. Just what is the "Godan 1 Collection"? Background please. Thx in advance.
I have attending many car shows in Southern California and Arizona in the past fifteen years or so. I have a collection of over 30,000 photos that I have taken over the years and I gave them to Kim. He has identified the cars and enhanced some of those photos. I am 81 years of age, I am very grateful that Kim is sharing these photos.
Thanks
Godan 1
Not my favorite year for autos but an excellent set!

I'm grateful that we can view them. Thanks for passing them on to Kim and thanks to Kim for passing them on to us.
Thanks for doing these. It is a wonderful series!

Excellent! Youβre now in my HS grad era when βcoolβ cars caught my attention and reminded me there was a reason for holding a good job.

In the 1st picture of the Avanti, it is stated that 1964 was the last year for Studebaker, not true. Studebakers (Larks)were made in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, where I happen to live now until March of 1966.

My first new car was a 1965 Chevelle just like the one in picture 5, thanks for the memories.
My first real car was a 64 Chevelle Malibu, paid for working after school....it was 3 yrs. old but a sweet ride....wish I still had it (and a bunch of others) - very nice set!!!!!!
Was that the year the T-bird went large? I remember a friend of mine got one and it didn't look like a T-bird to me. Still gotta love those Stingrays!!!!!

I owned a '63 Riviera, which #3 is. Another of my old cars I wish I still had. A very classy car.
#3 actually seems to be a 1964, as per this from Wiki: "Minimal trim and mechanical changes were made for 1964, with the most identifiable distinguishing features being a raised stylized "R" hood emblem and "R" emblems replacing the Buick crests in the taillight lenses."
Sorry, no other VW photos.

From my post of Dec. 15, 2021:
As some of you may remember, a friend of mine, godan1 from here at UHH has entrusted me with his collection of over 35,000 photos of cars from shows he has attended in Southern California & Arizona from the past 20 years or so.
He took all those photos & I am in the process of going through them, doing some editing and post-processing. He has given me permission to do with them whatever I want ... so I hope it is OK to share some of them here.
Since I have about exhausted photos from my own collection, and nothing much was going on last year, I'll be posting from his collection from here on for a while.
I hope you enjoy them and I thank him for sharing them with us.

That is true, but production of Studebakers from the South Bend, Indiana plant were stopped on Dec. 20, 1963. Some of the left over Avanti cars were sold as 1964s. The "Avanti" name & tooling were sold off and some were still being made into the 1980s, labeled as "Avanti IIs".
