On Monday I went to Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge north of Salt Lake City. It was a poor day for raptors. In the following set, only the two shots on a "One Way" sign were taken in the refuge. All the others were taken going to and from the refuge.

I will post the eagle shots in a separate post.

N.B. If you have not reviewed Steve Perry's latest post on problems in winter shooting from lens hoods, DO IT. Half of my shots were not usable for exactly the reason that Steve pointed out.

This was taken with a 70mm lens as I drove past, he was NOT going to move.

Great set, Mike. I did watch Steve's latest video and though it doesn't get really cold down here getting in and out of a warm vehicle in the cold weather we do have seems to cause me problems, too.

Thanks, Ken, I just wished I had seen it before I went. About half my shots were soft, exactly the way he pointed out.
