So, I’m thinking of buying a Nikon AF-S FX NIKKOR 200-500mm f/5.6E ED Vibration Reduction Zoom Lens with Auto Focus. I have a Nikon D7500 DX camera and this is a FX lens. Will it still work on my camera? I would have to spend $1400 on a lens that won’t work on my camera!! Thanks for any help on this!! ☺️☺️

It will work fine. Actually, it will produce better corner photo quality (FX lens produces a larger image spot on the D7500 sensor). Shop around, the price should be less than $1,400! BTW, I bought a "used" one through MPB (Brooklyn, NY) and it was in like-new condition.

I use that lens on a D7200. It works better than the price would suggest.

It does not have good weather sealing, so stay out of the rain.

Should not be a problem, Yvonne. To put your mind totally at ease concerning this lens I suggest you contact Nikon.

I got one in 2015 and it's one of my most used lenses. The VR is outstanding. If you do long lenses the 200-500 is worth it.

And on your crop sensor body with a crop factor of 1.5x it will give you the angle of view of a 300-750 lens.

I use a Canon 100-400L mk2 and Tamron 150-600 G2 on crop sensor bodies all the time. Canon aps-c crop sensors mostly have a factor of 1.6x though some older ones had aps-h at 1.3x. It was used in the 1D through 1D Mark IV in 2009.

No one has mentioned that at maximum zoom it may be hard to hand-hold, and if you decide you want to use it on a tripod, you'll need to spend almost as much to get one that will support a 750mm lens (equivalent). Something to consider.

Great point!! I’ll have to look at my current tripod to see if it’ll work! Thank you for that info!
