One of the great joys of digital photography is the ease with which one can check exif data including date. It is 6 PM January 22 in Boston. These shots were taken on 22 January 2011, shortly after we arrived at Seven Mile Beach in Gerroa, NSW Australia. It was the first few days of tertianship, a Jesuit's final stage of formation before final vows. The twelve of us represented several countries and multiple languages. The official beginning was 20 January. We made the drive to Gerroa two days later. Extraordinarily beautiful beach. Never managed to get back. The photos are a good substitute.
A river emptied into the sea here. Everything was very calm. Vincent, one of the tertians wanted to fish. Don't recall if he caught anything the entire time but he tried.

Seven Mile Beach. The photo opportunities were superb at any time.

This shot screams the joys of being a kid. As I looked at it my mind went back to the fine film Stand By Me.

Not too many minutes later. I kept popping up from the dinner table as the light changed to run out for another shot.

Wonderful set! Thanks for sharing. I agree about "Stand By Me," an overlooked jewel.

Thanks. I think I'm going to have to watch Stand By Me again. There were some very good coming of age films a couple of decades ago.

My feelings exactly. They become more important the older one gets. Thanks.
