AzPicLady Loc: Behind the camera!

As consolidations came and went, these little local schools were left to the elements - unless someone purchased the property. That's what happened to our little local one. This is a really nice image. I question if the kids walked or rode. A lot of these had hitching racks somewhere for the horses.

Very nice image. Is there a date on the building?

no date on what's left of the building. i've tried looking it up online, but it's in the middle of nowhere so it's hard to figure out what to even call this area to research it.

Nice shot. My aunt, a school administrator in Louisiana back in the day, once took me on her rounds to a similarly constructed schoolhouse, many years ago. I was the only kid there with shoes on. Always wondered where any of those kids ended up, and what became of the building. That was about 80 years ago, and now I feel like your building looks. Is that nostalgia?

whoa, cool story about your aunt. it's amazing how much times and societal norms have changed in a relatively short period of time. i bet you never dreamed of the current world we live in when you were a boy visiting that school with your aunt.

there weren't too many homes in this area, abandoned or otherwise, so i would think that the kids rode to school rather than walked. i haven't see a hitching post, but there used to be a chimney that's no longer there too. most of the small entryway shown in my photo has fallen off in the last decade, it's not much more than a skeleton now.
