That would indicate the Win10 screensaver is not the one being used. There are 3rd party screensavers, and it sounds to me like one is active on your system. Sometimes, often, right clicking on a window will list options for the application running. If that doesn't work, you might try task manager (Ctrl+Alt+Delete) and select task manager and look for a running process/startup that sounds like a screen saver.
In win10, the slideshow is not a screensaver app. A screen saver starts after a set amount of idle time. A slideshow runs all the time but will change the photo on the desktop every x many minutes. Screen savers started when monitors would burn an image on the screen if the screen didn't change. This doesn't happen anymore but screensavers are still in use for aesthetic reasons. I never used them because in the old days, they caused more problems than usefulness. I do run the windows slideshow on my desktop.
