For some reason every time I leave my desk for a period of time my computer goes into slideshow, I can stop it with a Ctrl Esc but I can't get rid of it. I have been trying for about three weeks, I have looked at every program on my computer for something that says stops slideshow. I wonder if this gould be in the latest windows upgrade? I have to ask for help because I have very little computer knowledge. Thanks in advance. REJ.

What operating system?

Sounds like you may have the screen saver set to run a slideshow after X minutes of user inactivity. (I do.)

On win 7 - right-mouse click on nothing (no icon), at the bottom of the list select "Personalize", check the screen saver parameters on the right.

You should also be able to stop it by moving the mouse.

I bet that's it. Congrats in advance. If that is not it I will pretend that I never sent this.

If you have a Mac let me know - it's an easy fix via System Preferences / Desktop and Screensaver

for windows 10 , click on the start icon on the bottom left , then click on Settings , then click on Personalization in the upper right . On the left side where it says Background , does it say Slideshow , if so , you can click on the small arrow on the right side of the box and change it . This may help or may not depending on what you have on your computer running .Tommy

I have tried that and select background there is two choices and they are set to picture and fit. I have tried to reset every setting choice on the computer and nothing that I can find is set to slideshow

Go to Windows settings, Personalization and then Lock Screen. In there you will find means to set (or remove) a slide show. Good luck.

In Win10 Press the Win key + i a "find a setting" window will pop up, type "Screen Saver" and a pop up will appear that is self explanatory

Did you check the details of the setting?
Even the "slide show" setting will only show "a" picture for the option.

Like I said I am not a computer person but I think that Picture is the photo you chose for your desktop and colour is for when you dont want a picture or a slideshow and slideshow is where you set up what photos you want run then down on the right side there is a button called Apply. So in my nontech mind I think if you chose one the other two are cancelled, if that is not so then I have no thought of what to do next. Thank you all for your replies. REJ.
