The date(s) of the show haven't been announced, but now that I have a passing interest in it, I'll likely attend.

We didn't get into the details of the show more than it isn't a form a Max McLean recitation of Scripture. My sense, based on his clothing choices, is a modern setting re-enactment of the Book of Mark. He said the show runs about 90 minutes without intermission.

That makes sense, interesting! Also good to know the image was his choice. Thanks for sharing your experience as you dealt with faulty equipment and still produced the image your client wanted. Congrats on a job well done

Is time travel involved, also? The model of a clipper ship seems out of place.

That is a "top sail schooner", much smaller and a much older design than a clipper ship. But you are correct in that it is not a Biblical Era ship.

top sail schooner
top sail schooner...

Flying Cloud was a clipper ship that set the world's sailing record for the fastest passage between New York and San Francisco, 89 days 8 hours. The ship held this record for over 130 years, from 1854 to 1989.

Not my picture, both off the net.

Part of my text and the "download" from "store original" both disappeared somewhere. My connection is a bit wonky today one site I deal with on a regular basis says my user name or password is wrong but when I fill out the form to reset the e-mail link from their server doesn't arrive. Three tries and on Monday I will call them during business hours (a state office).

I tend to agree a little about the actors left eye, but it is less of a distraction to me than the "candle flame" which actually is a stage light . If that could have been cloned out it would be an improvement. Other than that I really think you did an excellent job getting the photos with cooperation between you and the actor. As an amateur actor having been in several local community theatre productions and being a photographer taking some publicity photos, I can honestly say, great job and thank you for sharing the results.

Thank you. An amateur (?) actor and a non portrait-taking photographer made do with circumstances and came out with a happy result. Can't ask for more than that!

My main interests in photography are landscapes and textures/patterns. Thus, when I was asked to shoot promotional photos for a one-man show based on the Biblical Book of Mark, I agreed. Mostly because there was a time constraint, and they hadn't gotten anyone to shoot advertising images.

When I arrived, I found that both my Flashpoint light and my Speedlight both were on the fritz. So, we had to make do with available light. Good thing it was on the stage where the show will be performed, and has a variety of stage lighting. I wasn't sure what was wanted, so the model/actor and I had to work together on poses, mood and staging. Not being adept at portrait photography, I am glad the subject was full of ideas and was photogenic.

After an hour and a half, I came away with 112 photos, and said I'd have some proofs available today. I put together 34 possibles, and he responded with the one he wanted to make into the show poster. Here then, for your consideration, is the proof.
