I found a simple program for $25 called Check Book that covers all my needs. It's easy to setup and use!!
Great for a simple mind

What is the URL for the program you refer to?

I have used Microsoft Money for years. However, MS discontinued supporting the original program but made available Money Sunset. With the original Money program I could pay bills through the app and it would also balance my bank statement. With the Sunset version I have to log on to my bank's website and pay bills there and I have to balance the bank statement myself, just like I had to do in the old days.

I'll skip my usual rant about bringing back MS Money and say I succumbed to reupping with Q. There are several alternatives one can find on the internet but it takes time migrate you records accurately. Start early with a transition (if you decide to) and work both simultaneously until you're happy with results from the new program. BTW, I've never connected Q with my bank accounts; seems more hassle than it's worth. But, when updating stocks 3 or 4 times a day, Q makes it easy.

I'm still using Quicken 2007, works just fine.
I've no need to "connect" to anything.

I am using Quicken 2014, and it is still working fine.

Did they switch to a subscription model sometime after that?

It should continue to work for as long as current operating systems (not Quicken) support the architecture.

The only downside - and for you it may not matter - is that Q will no longer link effectively to online financial sites and services.

Personally, I use Quicken only because it links and downloads etc for me, and performs various other semi-automated tasks otherwise an Excel spreadsheet would be perfectly fine.

Yeah, that screen pi**ed me off so I found an inexpensive replacement that has a good free or better paid program called Moneyspire...simple to convert to and good tutorials!!

Thanks. I'll take a look.

EDIT: I looked, and it looks like a winner - for a one-time price. It accepts Quicken databases.

I think they switched in 2020.

It looks like Apple, only.

Those are things I don't care about, so any other good program would be fine. I prefer entering transactions myself, rather than downloading them.

I quit updating quicken when they went to the subscription model. It would be nice if there were connections, but it still works.

Jerry, there is an evil Marketing department at Quicken working hard to increase the shareholder profits. They will find ways to make it annoying enough to drive you to continuing paying the subscription.
