In its entirety, #1 is a nice combination of colors and assorted pieces making up the composition - grasses, rocky mountains, clouds, some blue sky, etc. My preference for landscape pictures tends towards ones with “weather in the sky” such as clouds or incoming storms to break up a huge expanse of blue.

Thanks for your kind comments Chock. The first was taken by my wife with her small point and shoot and the third was taken with my DSLR from the bus as we were leaving. I agree that hers was the better composed photo.
