We disembarked our Lagos Andinos boat at Puerto Peulla for our stay at the Hotel Natura in the national park. We chose to walk the short but scenic .25 mile road from the dock where I was able to take these photos.
Peulla is a lake town on the eastern shore of Lake Todos los Santos in the commune of Puerto Varas ( Los Lagos Region , Chile ). The climate of Peulla is rainy, with rainfall all year round that is concentrated between the months of April to October. It gets its name from the mapudungun pillad , frost.
Location
The Chilean town closest to this town corresponds to Petrohué , 20 nautical miles (370 km), on the western shore of the lake. There is no land road between these two towns, so they communicate through the boats that cross the Todos los Santos Lake . In addition to the port, Peulla has an aerodrome.
This port is very close to the border with Argentina . Following route CH-225 (which cuts off at the Todos los Santos lake section), you are 26 km from the Pérez Rosales and Vuriloche international crossings .
The Peulla and Negro rivers converge and jointly flow into this town.
