Unless you are in a Closed Shop state. A closed shop agreement is a contract between an employer and a labor union that stipulates that the employer will only hire workers from a specific union and those workers can only remain with that employer while they are a part of the union that the agreement covers.

Oklahoma is an Open Shop state, an employer can not force an employee to join a Union even if the business is represented by a Union.

We need to tell the story of unionization and collective action at least as much as we tell the story of resignation

As usual there are at least two sides to every story. True the unions have benefited workers.

In other cases, unions have benefited themselves to the detriment of the rest of the country.

Why does the U.S. have a supply chain crisis that other countries do not face?

U.S. ports do not operate 24/7 as do ports in Japan, Saudia Arabia, China, Spain, etc.
Why?
The unions dictate the number of hours of operation, especially in California at Long Beach and Los Angeles.
Although Biden and Psaki have claimed that our ports now operate 24/7, there is only a single terminal (out of seven) in a single port that even comes close, after beginning a pilot program of operating 24 hours a day Monday through Thursday.

U.S. ports are way behind automation compared to other countries around the world.
Why?
The unions oppose it, especially in California.

Despite the supply chain crisis, longshoremen in CA typically earn between $194,000 and $282,000 per year plus benefits.

It was my understanding that shortages was/is a world wide problem. You seem to indicate that this isn't true. Any references?
