Does anyone have any recommendations for large electronic photo frames? I want to wall hang a photo frame, and thinking of something about 16" x 24". Any great finds or ones to avoid? I see that Netgear has the "Meural" frame and Lenovo has the "Smart Frame". I'd like to hear any feedback on either of those ot any others. And any info on how are the photo loaded, cable, wifi, SD card? Any advice would be appreciated. thanks

There are many smart TV's nowaday I wonder if there is an app that allows them to simulate a picture frame. Many of them are capable of 4K but most picture frames have lower resolution.

Simulate a picture frame?
The frame around the TV viewing area doesn't look nice?

Will they take a USB fob and display the images?
(I'll have to check mine.)

I believe Vizio TVs can perform this function. Most smart tvs have a USB port so you can watch your own digitized movies, so why not photos? Here's the Vizio support page on doing so:

Mine does take a USB thumb drive and display image but by default I can't set how it changes pictures. But I know now there are several apps available to do that.

I just quickly reviewed my TV instructions, cryptic as hell.
Not even written in Geek Speak.

I saw something about a slide show.....
Saw something about "My Photos", stored on the TV????
I'll just have to plug in a fob and try to find it and see if the TV is smart enough to 'play"' them.....

I don't need more apps on the TV, got enough on the computers and phone.

Check out Nix - my first lasted a long time (7 or 8 years?), and the replacement works perfectly. I load a large SDHC with months worth of photos. Motion detector, remote, even Bluetooth or Cloud if you care for that, though I chose one without. They are not particularly large, but work very well.

Smart TVs are smart because they share your internet connection with your computer, iPad, phone and any other device you own. They can see folders on your computer that you grant it access too. Find your computer on your Smart tvs menu. Call up a folder of pictures. Play as a slide show. Everything talks to everything theses days.

I had an electronic frame that had not been used in years. Could not make it work with several attempts and alternate power source. Finally got a old laptop and put it on a table using Fastone Image viewer software. Easy to use slide shows and additional benefit, it shows time and date of the pic in the lower right corner of the image. It must derive that info from the exif data since it does not change the stored image.
Just a suggestion.

I just got a Vizio TV to show photos, and it does, sort of. It is difficult to get it to run correctly, in that it shows photos for 17 seconds when set for 5 seconds, and appears to show the phantom jpg files (as blank images) from my iMac in addition to the real jpg files. I'll try to find a Windows machine to delete the unwanted files from the USB stick, as I can't do it from a Mac. I went with the Vizio as their manuals seemed to indicate they would be a better solution than other brands, but now I'm not too sure about that! I'm very satisfied with the sharpness and color, however.

I have had a Meural frame for about 5 years and love it. I have both my personal photos and I also have downloaded favorite art works and famous photos from the Meural website. It is a show stopper and a great learning tool. Easy to use.

I recently got the Nix that plays SD/SDHC cards and USB drives for myself and purchased WiFi 's as gifts.. I think the WiFi 's are better, but there are models which accommodate both. My Manual welcomes inquiries: 855-649-7529....support@nixplay.com.
I think they're terrific!! Give them a call!

I got a 32” Samsung with a USB port to do that. Look for one that can be hung on the wall. Mine can’t.

We have the Meural. Love it, we display our photos from out travels. It does have a few quirks and the manual is typical, needs more details. Holds 4 gb but can also add an SD card. Also recently got a Samsung Frame TV which we use to display artwork. The Frame only holds 500mb so not too many photos can be displayed.

I bought the largest Alluratek frame (17 inch diagonal; 16:9 ratio) and had an oak frame made for it from a company on the internet. I'm very pleased with it -- and I think it looks really nice on the wall. The next step is to bury the wiring. I have about 2000 images on it -- and what is nice is that it connects wirelessly to the computer to allow you to add more. The digital frame was about $ 200 and the wooden frame cost about $ 75.
