No matter which side you're on in the vaccine/mandate/mask/shut everything down/it is endemic now debate…the fact that the CDC, like Fauci…keeps changing their story means that both of them are dancing to the tune of their political masters or whatever the latest social media outrage is.

Fauci has…well, not out and out lied but severely distorted the truth at minimum and out and out lied at the worst…said numerous things that were not true and has changed his tune numerous times, as has the CDC.

I'm not downplaying the severity of the virus…but in truth it is endemic now and shutting down the economy, schools, and travel forever isn't the solution. Getting vaccinated and being as careful as possible while resuming normal live as much as possible seems like a much better overall solution. What we have now is one side essentially saying just deal with it and the other side saying shut everything down forever…and neither side is completely correct…or incorrect.

My wife was in the medical biz a long time and used to think Fauci was one of the good guys…but now doesn't trust anything he says because of his untrue statements and bowing to whatever the political winds of the day tell him to do.

And to forestall any complaints that I'm just one of those antivaxers…nope…we both had it back in Oct 20 with mild symptoms and then got vaccinated and boosted as soon as we could get an appointment…and we still social distance to some extent, wear masks where appropriate, and limit time in crowded places like inside restaurants.

This isn't controversial or political…it's calling a spade a spade and the CDC has continually changed their minds. They keep trying to justify it by saying they're "following the science"…but they're just obfuscating…and I've seen that from both sides of the political spectrum.

As humor, the posted image is questionable. And, given the timing and seriousness, of the subject, it is in questionable taste.

And the OP's added comment pushes it over into the political arena.

Just my opinion, of course....🙄

I am sorry for all those people, that can not see that this is just a JOKE, they see it as a way to make it political!!! It's apparent these people do not have a sense of humor and have problems with the politics!!!

From my perspective, it became political when the OP added the sentence "This is what it has come down too..." to the image. If the image with its caption might be considered a joke, to me the added sentence sounds like a political comment.

I agree with some of what you say but I have a problem with this statement: "the fact that the CDC, like Fauci…keeps changing their story means that both of them are dancing to the tune of their political masters or whatever the latest social media outrage is."

I know that Fauci has not been truthful on everything and the CDC has changed its guidance frequently. I think this is mainly due to the difficulty of defining, assessing and predicting the problems brought on by Covid. Blaming "political masters" and "social media outrage[s]" is wrong and counterproductive. It throws fuel on the fires of confusion that we should all be trying to avoid.

I had a post moved because someone didn't like my vaccination post. Appears it comes down to the moderators politics here.

Sam, if I'm thinking of the right thread ("Ironic isn't it"), your assessment of what happened is not quite correct. It was not a "post" that was moved, it was the whole topic. This distinction is important because your initial post would not have led to moving the topic to the Attic. It was the ensuing conversation that turned political and caused the move.

The "moderator" you blame is the owner of the UHH forum (referred to as Admin) and he/she can set down any rules he/she feels are appropriate. He/she has made it very clear that there is zero tolerance for political talk in any UHH section other than The Attic. So he/she moves topics viewed as having crossed the line. Is there some arbitrariness in these decisions? Of course there is. But by and large I think the decisions are fair and are not based on political bias.

Political satire is probably thousands of years old. As long as it's not a falsehood, e.g. masks and vaccines don't work, who cares. As photographers, amateur and professional alike we should embrace freedom of expression.

I for one think this cartoon is funny, but also recognize that those poor suckers working at the CDC can't win. Being the brunt of jokes must be demoralizing for a group of people I'm sure are just trying to do their job facing an impossible and constantly changing situation.
