No one is going to look at these photographs and say OMG, beautiful! or what an eye!
Basically, I’m a street photographer willing to engage just about anyone for the chance to grab a shot or two. This gentleman was hoisting his camera onto his shoulder as I walked by, so I asked him if he would rather be carrying this, holding out my camera. We got to talking. Turns out his assignment was to shoot garbage cans for Fox News on the local evening program (no politics). While he was shooting, a local neighborhood meeting was going on requesting more garbage pick up.
It’s a living, and the bennies are good, he said.

I feel sorry for the guy, it was a slow news day.
Your images are well taken. The video camera that this fellow has is very, very expensive and quite specialized. I would not walk the streets of the City of New York without someone along with me for I would fear becoming a victim of a snatch and run...or worse. It's like wearing a diamond-encrusted Rolex while wearing a short-sleeve shirt. Too tempting in the big cities right now.

This is normal in New York, photogs are everywhere. Besides, a thief wouldn’t get very far with that camera because of it’s weight. It’s also not likely to be a target for a thief…what would they do with it?

You’re point is well taken: what would they do with it? How would they hock it without the police finding it in a couple of nanoseconds?
I am afraid that non-New Yorkers think that we are at risk whenever we leave our homes. Yes, we have to be vigilant, maintain situational awareness, but most often it’s more like life in small villages with all of the amenities.

Thanks for the confirmation😂 I’ve lived and worked in and around the City most of my life and have many friends and family there. You’re absolutely right: know where you are and pay attention. And neighbors do watch out for each other❤️
You were right, this is fun!
That looks pretty heavy to lug around!

The problem is the invading hordes. Not so sure about the neighbor's thing. Remember Kitty Genovese? Also, the recent rape on a subway car and the other passengers offered no help but they all took videos on their cell phones.

Do you mean a popular evening news channel? +No one no it was the above mentioned. Just saying.

I’m certainly not saying that the City is crime free…no place is. As for the rape you refer to and reactions, it’s a horrible thing. I like to think the videos were turned over to police.
(And wasn’t the Kitty Genovese incident in the early 60s?)
