When the sun shines on the River Esk, Whitby, North Yorkshire. UK.
Beautiful shot. Brings back happy memories of frequent visits to Whitby in my younger days. Thanks for sharing
Beautiful place, beautiful photo.
I really like the contrast between the modern sailboats and the Abbey ruins in the background--a photo that transcends the ages. That’s a nice one, Sylvia.
What a neat little village. Your photo of it is superb.

Wonderful image Sylvia - I like everything about it. Excellent color, composition and detail!
A truly magnificent scene well documented, Sylvias...over 700 years old...maybe there is hope for humanity going forward!!
The shot is very nicely done. it looks like a lovely town.
Great vantage point! Well-composed and very sharp; nice that you included the railroad tracks on the left. Looks like a well-managed, clean, yet historic town.
We're glad your eye caught this shot Sylvia. Terrific landscape
Interesting P.O.V., Sylvia. I have to wonder, with all of these cathedrals and castles throughout all of Great Britain, where did they get the materials and manpower to create such things? It is mind boggling to me since construction methods were so primitive back then.
Beautiful scene, Sylvia. You did a good job!

It looks beautiful and I couldn’t resist a shot, as we drove over the bridge Bob stopped the car and I jumped out, ran along the bridge to get the best view, however I am too short to reach over the top of the bridge and squeezed a shot through the mesh links.
I have done posts on Whitby before on the Abbey Ruins and St.Mary’s Church which you can see in the distance.
For nearly 700 years, the 13th-century Gothic abbey has towered high above the town of Whitby.
The Church of Saint Mary is an Anglican parish church serving the town of Whitby and was built around 1110.
