Thanks for sharing these excellent images of the surgeons, nurses and scrub techs. The first getting the suture ready and the last with all hands on board are my favorites.
You are definitely most welcome, dox. Forgive me, however, for having earlier failed to comment on composition and content, both of which you've shown in these to be several cuts --no pun intended-- above the norm.
As patients, we don’t usually get to see this. I am grateful for the surgeon’s skills which have helped me several times, the most recent a neurosurgeon performed C4-7 ACDF a few months ago and immediately fixed a painful problem
Really nice images. Brings back memories (when I was a family physician in an extremely rural area - an hour to the nearest traffic light - I would frequently assist our sole general surgeon). The composition and lighting really emphasizes the intense concentration required on the task at hand.
Medphotog, You are quite right; it was an awesome profession and most gratifying. But, alas, times change. I'm glad you enjoyed the images and the trip down memory lane....
Two years ago I posted a series of images titled Surgeons at Work. The photos were taken in the operating room during what used to be my day job. The series here is a corollary work showing just the hands of surgeons, nurses, and scrub techs doing what they do.
Looks interesting. The operation appears to have been successful. BUT did the patient survive? . . .
