Eagles are great to see in the wild. For all you Eagle lovers, check out Southwest Florida Eagles. The babies hatched about three weeks ago. I find it fascinating to watch eagles progress from an egg to an adult. These eagles are in Ft Myers Fl. I have photographed them several times. The nest is on private property but the land owner lets you shoot from his driveway as long as you stay in a designated area. You can get some great shots with a long lens and a tripod. Young children love to see the baby eagles. Be patient as these are wild birds and feed their young with fish and squirrels.

Noticed that the eagles are starting to gather at the compost site - so I just had to take the camera over and practice with the Nikkor 200-500 f/5.6E ED VR lens. All were shot hand held at 1/1250 sec f5.6 with the first shot at 200mm but the rest at 500mm.
I got a couple nice one's in flight but the highlights are blown...oh well....it's always a blast watching these guys.
If anyone has this lens ...can you tell me the difference between Normal and Sport Modes? When do you use which?
Thanks
Cindy

What a wonderful shot! Here in NW MT chicks hatch end of April into May. Here are two shots of active nests that I have been able to watch over the years.

I know....it's actually on my way to the grocery store...so I always take my camera and spend a little time practicing if they are actively flying around. I used the Tamron 150-600mm lens in the past but just received the Nikkor 200-500 this past December. Waiting on a 1.4 teleconverter to become available as well.
I have never seen so many Eagles....ever....wow.
