My bank sends out checks to the companies when I use online bill pay. So I get the best of both worlds

My fixed monthly payments, and the gas and electric accounts that offer budget billing, all get paid automatically. While my internet and wireless phone bills vary a bit each month, I also have them set up to pay a fixed amount each month that's a bit larger than any bill, and I just let the credit accumulate until I can skip an entire payment. (The less data I have to enter each month the better I can tolerate the bill paying process.)

Some of my payments the bank does by mailed check, but the utilities (and credit cards, which I have to enter each month) seem to be paid electronically. Not that I care - they're always paid ahead of the due date and I have a bank record to prove it.

Not a rant, but just for info. purposes. We have Comcast internet only, as we only use streaming services on our TVs. Just got the bill three days ago and the price of the internet service has been raised by $5.00. Not so much a big deal given the history of internet providers. If I do have an irritation with Comcast, it is this: we have had it for 14 years since we moved to southeastern MA, and the monthly bill used to come in the mail six days prior to the payment due date. Now, with the sketchy mail situation, we received our last two bills three days before due date.

Do any other Hoggers using Comcast have a similar situation?

On the unknown side, we will be moving out of state in four months, and will be dealing with Cox rather than Comcast.

We have Comcast (and all our bills) on auto pay and just get a text from Comcast when it’s been paid. Haven’t written a check for a bill in about 10 years.

It's only going to get worse until failures start. As each provider/network splits off a new XXX+ and puts new programming there and each produces new programs to make more money, we all need to buy more and more services to get a program here or there, meanwhile the cable companies, like Dish have the same infrastructure costs with less original/new movies, etc. We've lost HBO, etc. but gained more oldies, GET, THEM, etc. We get Disney, but all the stuff we watched is now on Disney+. Eventually, either all consumer spending will be for entertainment or the system will collapse and consolidate.
Things can also change in very new ways. For example, take a computer and dissect every motion and word spoken by actors in a old series, then create new scripts and let the computer do the rest. I'm told this being done now with the original startrek. There are hundreds of startrek books to use = 1000's of episodes. Result, no or few new actors needed, no production sets, just old actors making money assuming they have any rights. By mixing good voices with just any bodies movements even artifical actors could be created meaning no high paid actors needed. Combine V.R. (metaverse) and gamimg and we all become actors paying to be in a movie instead of watching it. Last comes direct brain input.

As told by our district attorney; the most dangerous thing to do with your money is pay by check. All they need is two numbers; your account and the routing number. We only use checks for family or close friends.

There are no good cable companies. Their motto is "Strive to Provide Less for More."

In general, nobody likes "the middle man". Nobody really wants to deal with a cable company, we just want the internet and TV content that they connect us to. Similarly, nobody wants to deal with a phone company, we just want to connect with the people on the other end that they connect us to.

I live in the far northeastern section of MA and I am not a fan of Comcast. For some reason we no longer get a bill in the mail and so I end up paying by phone. And it is almost impossible to speak to a real live person as I always get stuck talking to some idiotic computerized voice. A few years ago I never had a problem talking to an agent but now I do.

I find myself getting increasingly annoyed with Comcast even tho, truth be told, I’d have to think real hard before dropping. Best advice I can give is drop that snail mail billing for everything that’s a regular repeatable bill. I get an email in advance of the upcoming billing/payment. Then, the credit card/bank account gets hit. Easy peasy lemon squeezy.

The first thing any bank does these days is scan your check. They're all processed digitally.

Forget checks, including electronic billpayer services from your bank. Comcast automatically charges my monthly bill to my credit card, and I earn a 2% rebate from the card issuer. Then the credit card issuer automatically debits my bank account the following month. No writing checks, no postage, a rebate, and 1-2 month float before the money leaves my bank account.

What I do now is pay by phone. I get some computerized dope and tell them the bank routing number and checking acct number and shortly thereafter I get a text confirmation.
Probably I should just schedule these clowns at Comcast to do an automatic withdrawal on lets' say the 17th of each month.
