Exactly the case!

After all, it's artificial intelligence, not artificial CREATIVITY!

You could sell T-Shirts with that slogan!

Problem is- there is human intelligence, artificial intelligence and a place for both BUT seeing what some of the latest threads are turning into, what can be done about NO intelligence.

Is it my imagination or are some of the folks experiencing a second childhood?

Maybe I should design a T-Shirt?

You kind of summed it up. You managed to cover pretty much A to Z and you didn't even bring up The Calculus, which would have totally destroyed anyone of their pixelated brain cells with so many Hot Pixels that would have made the Sun's solar flares look like cotton candy. We live in a World that just wants to push a button. This newer Generation of pushing a button on their very expensive Camera and feel that coupled with a 600mm f/4 lens, their images look so pretty on their little screen on the back of the Camera are going to be the next Picasso. Then they rush home and plop the SD or XQD card into their card reader while they have everyone on their street and Aunt's, Uncles's, Friends, Parents, to see what you created with that new 17,000 dollar investment makes them look like a 3rd.grader could have done a better with an old Instagram Camera. But here is the kicker, they look and stare at that really sets in. The Buffoon of all things Photography, comes up well it will look much better after I Process these precious works that even Ansel Adams Himself would be impressed while he can't figure out how to recover those blown out Highlights.

Can any digital image be considered a photograph? A picture, yes. An image, yes. But a photograph? I don’t know. No photographic film, no photographic paper, no photographic chemicals, Maybe I need get out my Olympus OM-1 to be able to take a photograph.

Can any film image be considered a photograph? A picture, yes. An image, yes. But a photograph? I don’t know. No silver-plated sheet of copper, sensitized with iodine vapors. No mercury fumes to develop the image. Maybe I need to make daguerreotypes to do real photography. I guess how you define the medium.

Still a photograph technology has advanced medium has changed but it is still a frozen moment in time. I miss the old days of chemistry and film but prefer to use what we have today

Photographs are not always a frozen moment in time. What abut long exposures or composite photographs?

One can philosophize, and entomologize one's self to death to no avail. A PHOTOGRAHY is simply an image form with light's effect on some medium where it is an antiquated chemical process, a more current film emulsion or an electronic/digital imaging sensor.

Besides digital imaging safer, back in the old days of "mercuric fumes" they used to find lots of dead photographers slumped over their darkroom sinks.

I lie to judge photographs on criteria like their artistry, content, storytelling, impact, sentimentality, journalistic content, and technical savvy and excellence. Physics and chemistry are interesting but secondary.

Imaging technologies have changed and evolved. They are going to continue to do so. Just because a photographer does not salve over trays or tanks full of caustic, toxic, and dangerous chemics to create their images does not make them less of an artist or technician. Computer-driven technology may be more convenient but it requires just as many skill sets and artistic talent as the older methods. As long as I can produce prints with the same or better range, tones, paper surfaces and content, I have no reason to pine for the past.

I have many large prints hanging in my home- some that I produced 50 years ago. Yes- they may have a different look than my current output but things change, and we all should change along with them. If you are an old-timer in the darkroom, it's easy enough to apply all your aesthetical skill to modern techniques. Light is still light, contrast, tonality, composition, contrast control, image tome, range, and local controls like burning and dodging are all still at your disposal and easier to apply.

Come on y'all, put down the history books and the chemistry set and pick up your camera!

Agreed. I guess I had my tongue stuck too far in my cheek.

Nah! You can never do that. Much wisdom is said in jest. Sometimes I stick my tongue so far into my cheek that it nearly comes out the other side of my face. I find that humour, hyperbole, philosophy, sarcasm and a bit of silliness are good to escape from the real STUPIDITY that is ongoing or in the world.

Keep up the good posts!
