Keeping my D850 with the 500pF attached 'handy' when managing our critter feeding program and cooking and cleaning and so forth, oh that's my wife. Anyway I slip outside for a brief moment from time to time and managed to capture a few fun shots.
The cold has allowed me to get much closer than usual. Some of the shots posted are at the minimum focusing distance-10ft- almost filling the frame. many were slightly soft-inside the min focus range and are unusable.
Fox Sparrows outnumber the Dark-eyed Juncos it seems. They are competing with the Spotted Towhees for the extra seed we throw out on our railing in sub-freezing snowy weather. We have parrots, another avians so we have a variety of seed. I see the Fox Sparrow, Juncos, Towhees, Golden-crowned Sparrows and Chickadees feeding cheek by jowl in this weather. They cannot get at the small things they live on because of the snow cover.
Still cold here-average is 43 F. Today was a warm 32 F! Wind picking up-I hope we do not have another cold power outage!
Download and enjoy!
Your little friends look all puffed up from the cold. Very nice series.

This is a beautifully photographed set! Your extra feeding effort in critical conditions can save lives. It is fun seeing commuters on the Pacific flyway that are common to both of our yards.

Wonderful shots as usual Tim, it's hard to pick favorites when they are all so sharp and well photographed.
Fingers crossed, we will get out of this cold snap soon!

Thanx! Yes it remains cold with more snow.

Tack sharp work, Tim!
Thanx! Low light and shallow DOF due close proximity makes things challenging.
Thanx for the kind words and for viewing!
