Thank you newsguygeorge, it real is too bad things did not work out for you and the nude modeling, you will be pleased to know that the crazy woman Kat (Katherine) asks after you to this day. So, lets talk a bit about Ms. Kat. She is Danish, for real, no lie. She is also completely nuts, which makes her a bundle of fun. Over this holiday season she was over playing in the studio doing shoots with photographers. This is one of the 'perks' that my studio supplies to models, they get to do shoots to make money to live.

When I say Kat is nus I mean just that, she's a Lonny Tune by most standards. But that is what makes her so much fun. She has a PhD in pharmacology from Trinity University but likes to work at construction jobs, men and physical labor, she is one of those women who is at home at a place like Home Depot. For a while she did stripping mostly because she was around other women who were naughty and the work environment was filled with men who were there to ogle semi nude women. She is as much into naughty women as men. She was sent my way by my buddy VADA. Kat adores VADA and VADA knows that Kat is nuts, but she likes women like Kat so it is a good match up.

When I work with women I set up opportunities for them to act out with the camera. I never tell them what to do, I just set up opportunities for their natural mind set to unfold. Kat is a vary wicked child and that is my kind of woman.

In the first image Kat is acting out like she would at a strip club, but she has inverted it by converting her boobs and not her yoni. Mirrors are critical to my work. Women love to see themselves, especially when they are being naughty. I should say also that I do talk naughty (dirty) to and at them when the opertunity affords itself to the atmosphere. In the right situation and with certain women this 'sex talk' helps to reinforce what they are doing, but it hast to be done with a certain style. This is critical.

Now in the second image is an earlier image, several years back. Yes, she is stroking her yoni, there reaches a point that this sort of thing jus happens and you are not imaging this. The odd thing is that Kat was so in the moment and ALL women will suspend judgment as part of their natural condition, so Kat does not 'remember' doing this, not at all. But she was aroused and responded and that is that. Some might think this is some how a transgression on my part, but it is not. It simply is a certain truth in these things. But, nope, no buts about it. The girl had me do images of her with a dildo (no, we can talk about it but can't show this type of work on the Hog, rules are rules), and yes she did the images to sell to make money to collectors, but her real reason was she found great pleasure in doing these images with me and the camera. So now you know that women are not all the type who are the girl next door, virginal, saintly types many think they are. Girls like men are excited by sex and get really turned on by the power they have over the male populous and society in general. You can see that Kat does not fit into the every day world of the structured world and she does things and structures her life to fit her basic instincts and desires. Pretty healthy out look on life, besides, later she has a career to enter as a pharmacologist to live off of.

The last image is clearly Kat indulging her fetish world. Bound to posts by chains and at the mercy of some unknown agency. It is a classic form that many women crave as a fantasy, she just wants to get more real into the fantasy. Well, yes, I set her up with chains on another day, in the Cedar Closet (it is the studio's alternative modeling space, it is a huge hit, some photographers want the space to do shoots with models and they spend hours in there), back to Kat, there she was in her designer heels (shoes are more than just a simple prop in photography), bound by chains and the chains where set with locks, the key was across the room on the wall. It is what she wanted, what she craved, so I gave her what she desired most.

After some two hours I could hear her calling for me. So I did go and see what she wanted. It had been two hours, and she announced that she needed to pee. In a gruff way I explained that she was bothering me, I was about to make dinner and was watching a movie in the kitchen (next to the Cedar Closet) and that she was being a pain in the ass. But, "I need to pee!" I smiled, I told you, I keep the door closed because the cats get in here and dig in the dirt floor next to the posted area, so what do I care about you peeing, just pee and stop wasting my time was what she got. So I left her there.

Some time later I returned and indeed there was a puddle directly below her. She told me she had to. And I assured her that I understood, then put some paper towels down, I apologized to her saying that I had no newspaper so the paper towels would have to do.

Kat asked about how long was this to go on. I told her I had no idea, but next time she had better think these things through, she really should have given me a safe word, but now it was too late. Then I gave her a wink and said but your no dummy, I know you planned that and decided to have me ignore her because that was what she truly wanted! You see, if you really love someone you should go out of your way to give them what they want.

About an hour later I knocked on the door of the Cedar Closet and told her I was coming in. I had dinner for her and said I was sure she was hungry. So I fed her dinner and had mine while I talked to her for a while. Then one of the cats came in and started digging in the dirt next to her. "See what you have started! Bad Kitty, and I'm not talking to the fur cover beast!"

Then I told her I was getting tired and was heading off to night-night, did she want down or did she want to stay for breakfast? Kat went home after getting down from the cedar posts. She still talks about being stuck in the Cedar Closet for hours, always in a good way.

Timmers Loc: San Antonio Texas.

Truth is there are babes everywhere in the US, Atlanta has a excessive number of them. Here is a weird note, there has never been a Playboy model from San Antonio (Texas) in the publication's history, talking Playmate. Playboy finally gave up and stopped trying. It would seem that the stigma of the Hispanic family, the 'daddy' thing and the whole Catholic thing was to problem. Not there is any shortage of Babe-A=Luscious Latinas, were up to our gunnels with that brand of beauties, it is just they don't want to be in Playboy! The reason I live in San Antonio is that there are so many gorgeous Latin women here.

A prime example is Michelle Varela, totally a Latina and San Antonio Hispanic woman. Went to LA to study film at UCLA, Masters with honors. Super sharp woman. Wondered in off the street and asked about having some modeling photos being done. Later told me she had herd of me through another woman she worked with and she said the friend though I was a great guy and a really good photographer. We did several sessions ove a long year before she went to UCLA for film.

So, Ms. Michelle Varela was making money at a strip club, one of the high end ones. So one day she shows up a bit agitated asking advice. Should she get a boob job, then tells me how all the girls who are big earners have big boobs and are blonds.

So of course I advised her against it, until she did a self evaluation. That got her attention. I explained that her boobs were just great as they were, later she cold alter the girls, but men really love natural boobs, at least most and especially smart men. At that point I told her she was a brainy broad, which she was/is. That the type of men she would do well with were the smart type and she liked brains. I also pointed out to her that one the point of her boobs she was sporting what are called 'puffies', no explaining it but these are rather uncommon and with these on natural boobs they are unique and fake boobs tend to ruin puffies, plus she had dark puffies, rare among puffies but all to natural with women of Latin decent. That she was from peasant stock of the South American type. She was amazed at all this because she though that her boobs were rather 'ugly'. I told her this was just typical of women, they find fault with their ass, boobs and their noses in no particular order. I also told her that when she got aroused she popped out the finest pointy nipples in the center of her puffies, both, equally, vary sexy and desirable.

Among her strengths was her sharp mind, quick wit, no bullshit sense of the world and that she was well educated (not just high school, but book smart). Then I admitted that I knew nothing about Spanish but after she had run into Angela and had spoken to Angela and that Angela was an a typical woman, sizing her up, she spoke Spanish with Angela and later Angela had confided in me (with a hint of jealousy that women show when men they are attracted too are involved) that Angela had said that Michelle knew Spanish, not just South Texas Spanish but traditional Spanish (Angela family is from the traditional Spanish speaking South America, Columbia). So, this was a large part of her power/advantage if she used it to her advantage.

Weeks later Michelle showed up at my door again, she never called, just always walked in unannounced. She had decided that I had given her good advice, that she was changing her approach to what she was doing. The story went that several days after our conversation she was working at the strip club and a bunch of loud oil guys who came in at least once a week and had a guy from Mexico, some big shot, sort of shy and spoke little English. Their boss and given them a bunch of cash to take him out on the town and so they took him to the strip club filled with white blond big bobbed girls but none spoke Spanish other than a few phrases. The lead guy knew Michelle spoke Spanish and could she talk to this guy and entertain him, they promised her big tips after explaining what the boss needed and that he only spoke Spanish.

As it turned out, it was like the film where the rich guy falls for the hooker. She spoke traditional high Spanish with all the proper inflections. Then she turned a quote from a well know Spanish author about being surrounded by and burdened by ignorant peasants and how it was a burden to be born for the work. He quoted back more from the same author and she continued in that vein. That was it, the man from Mexico asked if she would be his translator during his stay and explain what was to know about what was happing around him. She agreed and met him at the oli offices, he was there repressing his family interests. Basically she became his escort, day and evenings. Later he gave her name to others he knew who were traveling to South Texas and Michelle began working as a translator/confidant to rich power full men from Mexico and stopped stripping as she was making much better money at her new gig!

The second image became a 'gift' portrait for several of these rich men that she escorted and translated for in her new work. It became a little tedious as I had three film holders and Michelle wanted a camera original for several of these clients. I rather liked this image for the way it captured her look and asked if I could keep it for myself, which she was pleased to have me ask.

The whole issue about arousal is not a real issue. This will sound a bit crazy, but after a session with a nude model, I generally go to bed and sleep the sleep of the dead for several hours. The energy to be relative is extremely draining. I have asked a number of serious photographer who use my studio and they report the same psychic drain. So this arousal is more in the realm of the psychic than in some physical response. It is not like watching a movie or being at a concert, you are the person that is as immersed in the process of creating, it takes a lot to prepare and to deliver.

Another question is about others at the shoot. I simply have an absolute opinion, I don't work with an audience. It just doesn't work in my experience. Now I will modify that statement with the fact that I have worked with a model where the model has another person there, BUT, they must be an iatrical part of the shoot.

As example of this, Kat and VADA are playful togeather. These two have a bond that is extremely strong. The attraction is powerful, so the outcome can and is often unique, to say the least erotic. Then there are times when unusual opertuniaties just happen. VADA was over to model and another photographer had just finished with a model shoot. The model asked if she could stay and as she had several hours to kill before her next shoot that was close by. At the same time, Kat was ariving to do some modeling with a photographer in the front studio. So there I was with three women, togeather doing nude shoots.

The girl went to the large dressing room and Kat and VADA were going to put on make up, and the other model volunteered to help with make up and VADA and Kat were delighted to get involved. Me, I just sat back and watched as three pro models began to interact. Talk about shoots, which guys were ok, who had super great energy, who was a creep, the usual.

So Kat went first into the front studio and VADA and the other woman finished up and VADA invited her to come watch the shoot. Normally this would not be good, but I could tell VADA was sparking on the woman and she wanted her to watch the event. I call this "The Cubic Centimeter of Chance Popping Out", so the universe was beckoning for a shoot and I went along with it. So we got to the apartment studio and as we are settling in VADA asked her if she would like to give her some suggestions. She looked at me and I said, Women are always right and boys are smart to listen to what the women have to suggest. So I gave her a whole pile of fun to consider and she chose some rather fun options. "what are these?" came the first question. "these are hand covers, suppose to cover garden spigots in winter to keep them from freezing, but they cover the whole hand up to the wrist and they get secured with these steel collapsible metal rings." I took out the Milwaukee drive tool and showed her how it closed the adjustable ring, she smiled and said, "Vary Kinky, she looses the use of her hands! KOOL!"

"So glad you like the idea," I pulled out a zip lock plastic bag and handed it to her, "There is a set for you to put in your kinky bag of tricks!" She was vary pleased.

"What are the steel rings for?" She asked? To keep her hands up at her collar so she can't move around with her arms.

"I like this, you have though this out, vary nasty!" Came her delight.

"You know VADA is having fun being dominated by you," I told her, "She likes being directed by a woman."

She said, "I figured that out down in the make up room, her nipples got realy big as I put her make up on!" As she looked over VADA's boobs. "What next?" So we went onto nipple clamps, both were having loads of fun, both were sparking.

As we got started with the shoot, not far into it I herd the wooden stairs moving, it was NOT the big Bubble on the stairs, I could tell. Glancing out the side window I saw Kat coming up the stairs and then hitting the landing and in through the door she came. "Well, what is going on here? We are on a break, what am I missing?"

"Put her ball gage back in and you can help", so Kat did and then I explained I was playing shutter monkey and that "It is a shoot for models, want to join in?"

"Sure," came the response from Kat.

"Look bitches, I better go check to see that the dude down in the studio has not blown up the flash system, so I will be back in about 45 minutes, so play nice!"

Kat said "Timmers, he may not like that!" To which I will just explain that I will return his studio use fee and explain that you babes are bonding, and you can pick up after you come down."

So I went down and explained what was going on and the other photographer was cool with things because he had no other plans. Things work out that way.

About an hour later as we were talking Kat came walking in to pick up her shoot. I went back up to the apartment and found the two girls and a totally disheveled bed in the corner of the studio with both having shit eating grins on their faces.

"Thanks Timmy, we were vary naughty!" VADA stated as if I need some explanation for the mess in the room. "We both need to go, we will be late!" from them both.

VADA told her, "He reads me like an open book you know! This is not the first time he has set me up like this!"

"Well," She said, "I had herd from someone else about him, and Jessica said it was one of the great magic moments in her modeling!"

"And you Ms. here is your modeling fee, have fun at your next shoot, I'm sure it will not be as memorable as an afternoon with VADA!" I told her.

And that friends is part of my bad boy reputation, it always works for me.

Ilived in Colo for 65+ years, I'm 82 now. Loved it back then, never skied but did lots of mountain climbing/rock climbing, summiited all of the 14ers,but 9 or 10 of them.

Loved Colorado, had a rich friend named George Stumberg, had a place jut outside Pagosa Springs in Colorado. He loved doing what he called "the nude in nature" type of images. I would drive his Chevy Tahoe up to his place with his Golden Retriever Aspen, great dog and a girl magnet. George would hire models and fly them into Albuquerque and I would go and pick them up and drive them back to Pagosa Springs., then after a few days I would drive that model back and pick up another model or two. The trip took all day. In the car for hours I would get to know the women with hours of driving. I usually took Aspen along and the girls would get in the back of the empty Tahoe and cuddle with Aspen and sleep on a mattress that I carried in the rear.

I met the 'model' Serena on that first trip. I learned all the areas to shoot driving George and her around. I also met Shadyn on that first trip. Both became my close friends. I loved shooting in Colorado and all I needed was to drive and pay for my food, and help George get things done.

That whole thing about one's reputation came home to me before I fully understood what it was about. George had a terrible reputation among models. George was a cut throat real-estate businessman. George always paid the models and he negotiated the terms like he was doing a business deal, unfortunately that is NOT how women and especially models operate. Their major complaint was that he never gave them copies of the best images he did. if that had been in the contract George would have provided for that article, but models asume they will get copies of the images, and that George just could not understand.

This seems trivial, it is not. Models expect copies of their best images. When I was doing film this was not easy, but with digital it is not only easy, it becomes a no brainer, at least for me. You see I am an artist, it is NOT the image, it is the signature on a print hat has value. And, in another venue, because I am legaly the creator of the art work, I hold the copy right and so can control the images. But what do I care about all that. So here comes another typical Tim is weird comment, I give the models a copy of every single image from a shoot, a high resolution jpeg.

Truth is it makes my life so easy. I don't need to bother with post processing. And many will say, "But you can not edit or control the images after words", to which I say "Who cares about controlling after the fact", not me. It sounds odd but it has great benefits. The woman can see EVERYTHING, which helps her to review what she did modeling, this is a great benefit. If she wants to do the 'content' road for a web site, just fine with me. Over the years I have had women tell me they saw content at such and such's location and would I work with them.

Back to George, I received a weird benefit from my association with George, in fact several of them. He asked me why the models were asking again and again if Tim would be in Colorado with him. He would tell them yes and they were in. So I explained to him about the fact that they never got copies of the photos. This took some educating George as to not trying to just do business but to understand that they were women and needed a different approach.

I also 'explained' George to models, but it never quite took on the meaning that was needed mostly because it was after the fact. Again, it comes down ones reputation, but more to the point it is how your reputation is perceived and that creates the reputation.

One of the stories goes, we were in Pagosa and it went over night to a nasty bone chilling cold day. I told George I was taking the model into town and George said fine, but it was even too cold for him so he was staying in. I told the model to get her bathing suit and heavy coat because we were going out and that George was feeling puny and was staying home. She tried to talk me out of it, but I just insisted. She actually though I was going to make her model at -15 F! So silly, but I do have a weird sense of humor! I drove her into town and pulled up in front of the business there for the hot springs. It took a second but she got the idea. Pagosa Springs is known for it's hot springs, thus the name. But then I gave her money and my cell number and told her to go have fun. She looked at me oddly, It was R and R. She was 20, George and Tim are old guys, she should have fun and she could loo around to see who she might meet and perhaps she would have an adventure. That is what 20 year old women want, not hanging around two old guys.

So that evening I get a phone call and she met a married young couple and could she just stay with them at their hotel that night. Not being her father, I told he to call if she needed help (she was 10 minutes away) and to have fun. She called that next morning, and I met her at the small hotel, still super cold and she said she was going back to the hot springs, so I gave her some cash and told her call me if she needed anything and reminded her that we needed to, leave in the morning for the air port that next afternoon. I told her that George was feeling better and that he sent the money so she could have fun that day, which was true.

That kindness went a long way to help his standing, several models told him that Lindsey had told everyone about her adventure and that George was not as bad as other models said he was. My reputation was enhanced as well. But the comment that is being put forward that one needs to be humane is most important, there is no substitute for kindness and putting one self in the model's shoes.

As to Serena, she is a rare bird. I fell in love from the start with her. She is like no other model I have ever worked with. She is one of the best models to ever model, clothed or nude, it is like a duck to water sort of thing. She is just amazing. In a one on one or in a large group. Models have said they learned so much watching her. She is a true performance artist. And like all great nude models, she loves to model nude for men. She is totally attracted to males and really not interested in women one bit.

Shadyn is the exact opposite, but she loves men but is into girls also. In fact, one time she was asking me to give her my impression of her. I told her she was a frat boy in a sensual beautiful woman's body. I think this is the best assessment of her main operating function. Sadly, she died and Serena is still alive. They really hated each other after their first encounter. Both women were small, in fact Shadyn was tiny while Serena was just slight in stature. It was really to bad, they had some common ground and would have been fun to work with togeather.

But i have worked with Serena and VADA, those two are super togeather, and they are fun but Serena is not much into women, while VADA loves being around women.

Wow dude!! You should write a book!! You have had quite an adventure with models!!
There was a 'model agency' in downtown Denver where you could take model photos. I went into this room where a naked lady was sitting on a large cushion which was on a rug: as I set up my gear she said. "You see this rug? And this buzzer??", I said "Yes"? She said, "Well if you step on that rug I press this buzzer and the biggest N*****r in Denver will come thru that door and 'Escort you out'!! "Got it?" I Said, Gulp, and took a few photos and left!

So that was the end of my "professional salon" photography!

P.S., There are 52 mountains in Colo that are over 14,000 feet in elevation; climbers strive to climb them all! I've done most of them but cancer has taken away most of my life joys!

Dick, I read your statement about algebra, apparently no one does algebra any more, they let the computer do that so your saved!

If I had encountered that situation that you had in Denver, I would have never taken out the camera, rather I would politely ask that the buzzer be pressed and when the fellow arrived I would tell him that I needed to be escorted out as I don't work with bigots and the girl had used the N word to describe him, then ask him why he worked with racists as I went through the door?

But then I am a little weird, I once told a model to leave my studio and never return as she decided to play the 'Jew" card about a photographer* ; yes he was a jerk, mostly because he was an insensitive jerk, but that had nothing to do with his heritage. My good friend George Stumberg is Jewish. Many Christmas ago we were leaving his studio in a strip mall that he owned when a wino approached him for a hand out, George gave him a $100 bill out of his wallet and told him to have a great Christmas. When I asked him about it he said that "Everyone should have a great Christmas". Hard nose businessman George! If your ever in San Antonio go visit the Cadillac Bar downtown, it is across from the old court house building at the corner of Stumberg Square. His daughter Heather has the property now. She is a photographer as well, a Nikon girl, Daddy's Nikon Girl! LOL!!!

*I suggested that she would be quite comfortable living in Germany, because counter to popular belief, the place is crawling with Nazis. Just try to get into the far back rooms at Hofbräuhaus in Munich, that is where Hitler carved his name into one of the large tables, it is still a shrine protected by the current members of the SS.

More Shadyn. Her grandmother was Lithuanian and she got 'second sight' from her (the 'gift' skips a generation in the transference). Shadyn dreamed the future everyday, but she could 'see' people's life just by viewing them. And guess what, you can not normally use it for your advantage. There are stories but no one believes these things so I wount was time, I got things to do. But here are more Shadyn images, man she was ever so cute and a huge pain in the butt, yet I loved her and she loved me back in her own way, still, a huge pain in the ass for 105 pounds!

A Christmas Shadyn, going to a crazy Christmas party!

In regard to the n word, I was quoting the girl....and as this was 50 years ago, it was not yet denigrating!
I was born and grew up on a farm in KY, it was my grandads farm and there were 2 families of blacks living on it, their ancesters were slaves, grandad and his predecessors owned this farm since around 1830. they were called 'sharecroppers' during my era, g'dad took good care of them, gave them shares of the grops, etc. I played with the kids and my mom schooled them as best as she could. My dad worked in the coal mines and G'dad farmed, he called the blacks 'pickaninnys' not n----rs even then, they were the hardest working people I ever saw, one was named Josh, long since forgot the others! We had to leave the farm in '41, the army needed it for training Patton's tanks. Camp Breckenridge, told us we could reclaim it after the war but the Big Oil assholes got it instead!!

My photography isn't to the point that I feel comfortable shooting nudes but there are some excellent artists here. I see how ladies are posed, head angles, arm position, framing and composition. With a bare body, there are not a lot of tricks one can employ. Some pictures and series of pictures are no more than snapshots taken to show labia. That's not what I want to learn. Some shots are so well done that the nudity becomes almost secondary to the picture. Maybe it's the models expression or her position. Some are just crap.

this is somewhat of a schizophrenic site. Some photographers post images that are truly art forms, other are images of pretty women. I took a course in photographing the nude. It was intimidating, because your work was graded on artistic quality as well as photographic technique. I was "forced" to take it before the art school allowed me to take any further photo classes, they said it teaches the use of lighting, that was back in black and white only days.

This place is "somewhat of a schizophrenic site", that is rather an odd statement for 2020's. That 'school' you attended sounds a bit weird, in most art programs, undergraduates in art programs learn drawing by drawing and painting still life that are set up by an instructor and then most use a single light in a simple reflector. In photography programs one also begins with still life and moves then to portraiture, and finally some offer figure photography. The program that I was responsible for was not a degreed program and anyone could sigh up for any class they wished. I will say that when I instructed the studio side of our program I placed a great emphasis on the social/psychology of program, especially when there were a dominance of women as participants.

To that end, some here reading this might like to take note of some rather important aspects when working with people as their chosen subjects. This also goes over to everyone's real life.

I am amazed about this rather critical 'fact' that so vary many of the population never understand, and yet it is one of the great corner stones of modern living. Simply put, if you have your shoes on you believe yourself to be dressed. Dressed in the sense that you are at your best to deal with the social structure of living or being in society. The reader will think this is a bit odd but it such a commonly understood thing among psychologists that they fail to talk about it "because everyone knows this", or so they would have you believe. I can go into details but if you look into this fact/notion you will discover the truth to the statement.

So, if you are working with any person young or old, rich or poor, regardless of gender then you can understand that you can manipulate the persons response while being imaged. Out of this basic concept I began to evolve ideas as to how people respond to issues with regards to not only making images but how we perceive ourselves.

I not only helped women who wanted to do nude modeling but businessmen who wanted to do better at sales or presentations to a client or to an internal individual (boss, supervisor, friend or loved one). It applies to everyone and will get you real results more than a public speaking class or self help books. It goes like this.

Get a video camera that you can easily operate and that you can then view the results immediately by viewing it. You are not interested in any technical issues, simply something you can easily view as you work with it. Find or create a location where you will not be interrupted by devices (phones, TV, radio, stereos) and especially any other person (or even distracted by a pet). When you are finished exploring you will erase/destroy what you have recorded, you don't want or need any of what you produced.

In other words you will be in the moment, some times long moments and you learn as you go. You then are going to do every thing with the mindless recording device. You must also get rid of any notion of social propriety.

One thing you need to do is get necked in front of that camera as well as dress up and dress down. You want to see what the world, or at least other see you. First guiding principle to help you over come the common dumb notion we all have, record just your voice then listen to it back. Everyone is surprised at the way we sound. Is the recording device wrong? No, we are, because we hear our sound as it is in side our ears and that is never the way sound ever sounds. So guess what, you see the world inside your head, actually your eyes. Ever seen the back or side of your own head/ Of course you haven't, you live in your head/eyes. So what do you look like when you are walking away? How about just walking along viewed from the side. What are your arms and hands doing right now as you read tis? that is what the camera will show you. And it will be non human one eyed not two eyes, but that does not matter.

What does matter is that you have the idiot notion that what you see in a mirror is what you look like. WRONG! Whole up any printed material and read it, as a reflection in the mirror, difficult at best, well you see your reverse view from a mirror.

So what is your best side? This comes from the notion that you have a dominate side and a recessive side to your face. Look at a mirror and view yourself. Now take a blank pieces of card stock (it is stiff and easy to do this with) such that it covers at least half you face. Now, which side of your face looks most like you. If you can't figure this out you arte desperately in need of some soul searching, but most of us can do this. Look at a photograph of your face, and use the card to cover one side, then the other. Which side looks most like you? Ask some one else, or several to look at the photograph and tell you which side loos most like you. This is in a real sense a silly question, both sides of you are you, BUT one side is the side you favor, the one you show as your social side. This can help you inform yourself of how you are perceived as a social animal.

You should by now see/understand that you are not that knowledgeable about yourself and that you can take better control of your image, how you project and how you are perceived. So as you play to the video camera you need to act out different scenarios.

Be jovial, a shit, argue, be loving...all of these things and then you will view these one by one and then go back before going on and try different ways of approaching these types of personalities. You can facilitate this by telling jokes, tell stories, act out and act up. Make faces, try doing a sad face, a happy face, surprised, perplexed, all of the area of emotion. The name for this can be performance or acting and a million other names we slap on these things. You will hear someone say, he can't tell a joke, so why can someone tell a joke.

First you must have the joke worked out, it is in a sense a short story, it has a beginning, middle and end. Then there is the delivery, called timing (try doing a classic from Hamlet, but badly delivered), and then there is the punch line, and different jokes require different punch lines. In total it is ALL the elements coming togeather that makes the joke work, if any of it is off it could be a great joke badly delivered and so it is a great joke that is badly told. The same is true about a quarterly report or instructions on how to start and drive a car.

When I work with models there are things I do. I get them on my side, or rather I befriend them by telling them about wearing shoes. Women are already socially committed to shoes and how they look and how it makes them look. But like most they never herd how empowering wearing shoes can be. To fell you are dressed when you shoes are on and the science, psychology, and proof of this convinces them that what I am telling them is not just blowing smoke up their ass. It wins them over by giving the the confidence they want and need.

There is history that I use to help them understand the detail of modeling. I bring in scarfs. Scarfs? Why yes, young people know nothing about this so I explain the traditions of the scarf as a fashion statement. A scarf that has it's lead tails across the heart side (her left side) means that they are taken, in a sense they are a good girl, but when draped to the right it is saying they are available (read slut!) or looking (a loose woman). This was typical signaling in the 40's and 50's. No woman would be out in public with out gloves, but day gloves or a professional woman wore gloves to her wrist, after all she need to see her watch. And a watch was properly social on the left wrist and could be balanced with a loop/wrist adornment on the right. BUT, the watch was critical to state that they had money or their family has/had money, again a proper lady.

If a hat it had to fit fashion and needed to match shoes and scarf and other items. By the time your done she is dressed but nude and she has now goes into a fantasy world that men know nothing about but all women know from being a young/pre pubescent female. Men think this is called 'dress-up', but the real sub culture is called "pretty-pretty princess". As girls grow they see their adult female counter part. This is usually mother. Remember, all children are bonded to their mother, the woman who gave them life, the one who is in effect God. A child relies on the mother figure for food shelter and love (at least in the normal sate of psychology). As girls grow they act out by not challenging mother by acting out fantasies. Playing dress up they will act out certain rolls, they create personas, personalities, and decide if they like how it feels and how it works socially.

Simplistic psychology, perhaps but most women go through this as girls, and it is when they are asserting their ideas of self. In my studio I have loads of everything to create and support these fantasies. I let the woman delve into her past and bring up the notions that they have acted out in and found that they liked. Then I facilitate that idea. Yes, I do toss options out to them, but I let them lead themselves down the path of a fantasy the always wanted to preform in. They have already done the 'work' and I am there to facilitate their notions. As I work with a particular woman more and more, tat is when the idea they have gets pushed into new realms, this is where the creative opportunities begin to happen. That is why I like to work with women more than just once or a few times.

A lot of what is written here is to help explain the 'how' I work with women models but there are items that a photographer can use to advance their activities and get more, even improved results. Some of it will appear as just nonsense, but it work for me and has for years.

Heather had the notion that she would never be any good at modeling, she had a low opinion of her physical beauty. Silly her! I worked with her for several sessions and she went on Model Mayhem and I se her up to work with a few local photographers. She told me that she knew she was fat. Again silly her, so I sat her down and showed her her body type as rendered by Peter Paul Rubins the German painter. I also told her that the reproductions in the large gloss book were just not the same as seeing the huge paintings in the museum in Munich where I went to undergraduate collage and how she was not fat, large or heavy, no she was what the art world called Rubenesque. I also confessed that I had worked with many models and none were as she was, that was Rubenesque. That is true, she was the picture of that type and the other male photographers understood her look even if the could not explain the attraction that she had.

She was amazed at the raw response she got from photographers who wanted to work with her. She even told me she was thinking of going on a diet to loos some weight. I told she was nuts and told her to ask the photographers she was working with. Most all loved the way she looked and they asked her not to loose any weigh till they had time to do yet another shoot with her.
