My oldest grandson (now 16 1/2) have had a 12 year tradition. Every Saturday before Christmas is "ours'. Many of you know. We start early in the morning and either shop, walk the streets in Portland, or watch the train display in the local Mall until noon. Then it's lunch and off to the Portland (Maine) Symphony's Christmas concert, followed by the free horse drawn sleigh/wagon rides in the center of the city, a pizza pick up on the way home and soon to bed. It is a memory I will forever cherish.

This year. I didn't get as many pictures, but we had a blast shopping, lunch, wrapping and watching the virtual edition of this year's performance and Chinese take out. Topped off by a snowstorm and watching "Polar Express". I almost expected he would opt out this year, but I'm so glad he didn't. The next morning he drove himself to church in his truck in a snowstorm...the years pass so quickly.

Earlier years are on other drives, but here are a few. My! How we've changed...

Our dearly loved cat, Shakey is no longer with us. but he remains in our memories!
Shakey was our handsome black cat who loved a reason to celebrate a season. He didn't bother our Christmas tree but hung around it a lot. One Christmas evening we started wondering, "Where is Shakey"? We called him; "Shakey, where are you?" We knew we hadn't let him outdoors We hadn't seen him for a while?! Suddenly David made a loud noise getting up from the recliner and simultaneously we head a rattling noise under the tree and there he was!!! Shakey had been sleeping in a Christmas bag that we hadn't sealed at the top!
Our dearly loved cat, Shakey is no longer with us.... (show quote)

Awe, very touching memory...thinking you need another cat!!

Here are a few of past year's photos I've taken of my children, who are now 7 and 9. The one of my daughter in a snowstorm, was taken 3 days after my son was born. It snowed for 3 days straight from the day he was born, and this was the third day. I liked how the trail went off in the background, into the woods, so positioned her so that was right behind her.

The Father Christmas photo, I took while they were just chatting with him, a candid shot before the formal photo was taken. Since my daughter's face was mostly in shadow, I had to move around a bit to be sure to get her profile against a lighter background and the white fur worked perfectly for that.

The one with the tree on her little car was when she was just 2 years old. We this scene all the time with adult cars and we were lucky enough to get that good snowfall, so this worked perfectly in our drive.

Love them all! What great photos and wonderful memories! Thank you for sharing! Lucian!

Nice to have and keep such traditions and it is surprising how important these things are to the children, despite them getting older. Nice for you that there was a snowstorm to top it all off. It doesn't look like we will be getting any snow now, before Christmas, sadly. It's frightening how quickly they grow up.
