After doing some research I only need 2 Metz Transceivers because they work both as a transmitter and as a receivers. I hope after I purchase the pair I will not have any problems configuring them to work. Could not find the manual online to study it before I received the two units. Is there a website that Metz has that I can get the online manual from and study it before the units arrive?

Try this link. It is to their Canadian Distributor's METZ website. It's the only one I could fone with a very comprehensive glossary of technical terms related to the products. You might find the research you are looking for.

https://www.metzflash.ca/

I looked all over the Internet and can not fie the U.S. distributor. Nonetheless, the above link has all kinds of data on their equipment.

Remember when they won the World Series...
Those amazing Metz!

Yes, I saw the same deal on B&H...it was tempting.
I do know they had a great reputation for decades.

Have any of you HH photo people ever used Metz products? B&H had an ad for their wireless flash Transceiver $43.99 and the Receiver for $59.99. These will work for any of the camera made. I was thinking about using them for my Sony cameras and would like some feedback on this product either pros or cons so I know what I am getting into if I should decide to purchase these items. Thanks for the feedback.

About 15 years ago I "turned in" My Metz 60 (I believe that was the model no.) handlemount flash and it was still working. I bought a number of Metz flashes to go primarily with my Hasselblad. They all worked extremely well. I couldn't kill them. Highly recommended.

I got the Metz model 202 hammer head with an out board battery pack in early 70, it's guide number is 195, it's powerful. I still have it right now, it's lead acid battery dead long time ago. I once made up a 6.0 V DC holder for 4 1.5V D cell connecting to the unit and it worked fine. Now it's my collecting item!

I have a Metz strobe from about 50 years back, and it still works. Very powerful, one of the first with the thyristor circuit to minimise battery drain; it has a small lens on the front that measures the amount of reflected light to stop the flash.

If you cover the lens, you get the full flash discharge. This is so hot, you could almost cook eggs on it. I've used it to take flash photos out to 100'.

Metz potato mashers was the standard of wedding photographers for many years. Their quality is excellent. They still make a line of speed lights that I would rate as good if not better than OEM equipment.

I agree that the potato masher style Metz were very popular with wedding photographers. I use the big one the CT60 I think it was called for many years then went to the Cl 45 models which had no separate battery pack. I still have two of the 45s and prefer it over the on the camera flashes for anything serious. I didn't use the TTL version but always used just he flash auto feature built into all of them and I believe I got much better control and more consistent exposures than any of my Nikon TTL flashes gave me. I used it on a Custom bracket which allowed the camera to flip vertically and always kept the flash above the camera lens. I will never sell these flashes because they still work perfectly after over 20 years of use. I love them. I keep one in my camera case along with 2 Nikon DSLRs at all times.

It looks like B&H still carries Metz products, as does Adorama. B&H sell a couple of units that work with Olympus, Panasonic, and Leica cameras. THAT's unusual. They also have models that work TTL with other brands.

Still use a CT-45 and a CT-60... One is about 30 years old and other 20... Never failed.

New stuff? I have no idea how good they are.

I used a couple of CT-60s in my wedding days and also for shooting high school football. Brutes with tremendous light output. I think they offered a guide number of 197 with 100 speed film. Still have them but batteries long since useless and I wouldn't have enough use for them to buy new batteries.

I used a Metz with my Mamiya 645 AFd. It worked very well, had full bounce capabilities, a modeling light and more power than the other units I had at the time for other cameras, Vivitar 283 and Sunpak 5000. The latter two flash units were not used on the Mamiya, only the Metz. I only mentioned them for comparison of power output. The Metz never failed and I would highly recommend the brand.
