Just wondering what actually has any monetary value and especially enduring value to those besides the photographer alone.

Edit: some people overthink things or do not know. So to help read below:

If you do not shoot a category then ignore it.
Very simple.
If all you do for money is weddings then just say weddings 100%
if two categories then say 20% this and 80% that.
So simple that anyone can do it

Architect - you should know - there are Pros and those who think they are. A real Pro is a Photographer - and that is how he/she will think of themselves. I am an amateur - but I also am a photographer - and that is how I also think of myself. The rest keep the camera manufacturers and retailers in business - so often the best tools for the job have been replaced with (apparently) better updates - but in reality have not - e.g. Panasonic's GX8 to GX9. But so many don't stop to think before hanging on the words of the reviewers whose life blood is the manufacturer.
Photography is rife with toys and gadgets - and those who think that makes them better at photography.

And of those 78% were Canon shooters.

And your point here?
This is just to see what people here actually do.

Don't mind him. He knows a lot just has not learned how to play nice. I wonder where his stated information came from? "Recent study"???? Why not name the source?

Pro does it for a living.
Many here are pros and I wondered what areas they shoot for a living.
Many people think that they are architects and draw some sketches without a clue but think that they are equal to a pro.

Yes just wondering what the actual pros here shoot for a living.
I am sure that they shoot lots of things for fun like most of us non pros do but what is the money maker.

(I'm 93% sure his post is in the 84% category and he is just having fun, not intending anything 100% scientifically accurate!)

Landscape: 99%
BIF, birds in general, and wildlife excluding birds, combined: 1%

As one might guess, what I sell is highly indicative of what I shoot.

Edit: Subsequent to my response above, the discussion has evolved more into "pro" versus "non-pro." I responded to the ". . . those who make money from photos . . . " portion of the topic. I do profit from selling images and I do my best to produce and offer professional quality results. However, since photography sales are not now and never were my primary source of income, I do not consider myself a professional photographer.

I cheated and used Google. Fashion and Medical are two high-paying categories.

Using my own brain and looking at your list, I would say weddings and sports.

Really odd survey choices. Most of them are quite unrelated to making money.

You are forcing all the actual working photographers to lean heavily on “all other”. You give BIFs it’s own heading. BIFs have nothing to do with commerce.

Entertainment Quotient: Medium High.
