I have two computers, a desktop and a laptop. I have a subscription to Lightroom/photoshop and it allows two computers to access the software. The problem is that it thinks my desktop is two different computers. I'm running the latest Windows 10 on both machines.
I have automatic signon to the desktop with no password so I should always be the same identity. But I'm not. Every three or four times that I access Lightroom or photoshop it requires my userid and password. Then it asks me to kill one of my two "other" previous accesses. It shows three computer names, my laptop and two names for my desktop. I kill the oldest desktop login, often weeks old. This happens on both my laptop and desktop but the extra access is always my desktop.
How do I kill my second personality on the desktop? I can't find anything in settings or control panel that seems to apply.

The software treats them as two individual devices.

Yes. But how do I eliminate one of the IDs. And why would an identical login (it's automatic when I power up) randomly pick one or the other ID?

Did you upgrade the desktop from Windows 7 or 8.x to Windows 10? Perhaps Adobe can remove the old ID.

I would ask Adobe support about this.
I am using PS CC on 2 laptops and 2 PCs. (It depends on where I am and what I am doing). I have never seen this issue.
Everything I can think of relates to networking and auto-login. Since I am not up-to-date on networking, these are wild guesses that might confuse the issues. I am thinking <network/workspace>.<computer ID>. It would seem weird that Adobe does not isolate the computer ID…
Note that I am likely way off.

I own exactly two computers. Photoshop/Lightroom allows two uses. It asks me to rule out one of my THREE computers. I only have two computers and do not have multiple users or userids on either of them. But one of them, and I'm pretty sure it's the desktop, seems to be identified as two different computers. So I enter my userid and password and click on "disconnect" from the identity which is oldest so I can get in. and a few days later go through the same thing. Every few days.

If you get a new computer, many software packages require an UNINSTALL on the old computer (it relinquishes it for use elsewhere) before you can install it on the new computer. Some software packages keep track of installs.
Norton does that. I uninstall it on the old computer before installing it on the new computer. Actual USAGE is still three then. The software knows and keeps track.
I have no problem running Elements 14 and 19 and another editor on the desktop and laptop. Same with Roots Magic.

Both computers are several years old. Adobe is showing usage on three machine names, two of which are almost certainly my 7 year old desktop. Usage is all within the last 4 or 5 months.
I'm really puzzled. It seems to be some quirk in Windows that Adobe is falling into.

Was one computer (the third) an old install on an unused computer that was never removed?

No. And it isn't an issue of Adobe install. Adobe thinks I am continuing to use the software on three machines when I only own two. It is showing me the machine names that you assign to your machines. But a third name shows up as being used within the last few months when I only have two computers and they are both several years old and I haven't had any other computer for several years.
I'm assuming some fluke of Microsoft interacting with Adobe.

She had some ideas but they didn't work. My masterplan is to buy the new computer that I really need and make sure it only has one identity.

Did you contact Adobe on live chat?
If so, did you ask them to unregister manually all the PCs from their side?
I had to do that with ACDSee and it worked.
