Ordering from Nikon vs. Adorama, B&H, KEH
It's their In house credit card. Make sure you pay it off the first month. Intrest is 29.99%, OUCH

I bet that it's Synchrony that pays the tax not B&H.
I favor B&H for the same reasons previously stated. I applied for a PayBoo card when purchasing my D5. Essentially instant approval. Even when a recent order exceeded the PayBoo limit, I was able to increase the limit online, in about 5 minutes.
The tax savings is significant. Free expedited shipping from B&H. Easy returns within their stated policies. All my interactions with B&H have been positive.
I've also used Adorama, but that tax savings is tough to pass up.
I have three Synchrony accounts, and I always wonder if they will drop me because I don't pay interest. I make limited purchases with them, so paying the balance isn't a problem.
Jerry, how do they credit the sales tax? Do they just reduce the total bill (price and tax) by the amount of the tax sending you the remainder? Or what?

What you should be asking is if there is any advantage to buying from a local camera store versus giving the "giants" your money. As many times as I've said I wouldn't upgrade my Nikon D810 to the D850, I got the itch when it went on sale and just drove 20 miles to Action Camera in Roseville, CA, bought it, and drove home with it. (I confirmed they had it in stock first.) No waiting. No risk of someone stealing it or having it delivered to the wrong address.
The price was identical to Nikon's sale price.
I have ordered from B&H and Adorama. No complaints, but I do try to keep the local guys in business.

It's nice that you have a camera store just 20 miles away. For me, I'm looking at a minimum 2-1/2 to 3 hour drive. And those stores are not fully stocked. Actually, those stores are struggling to stay afloat.
So, many of us are forced to order from the manufacturer or B&H or Adorama or, OMG, Amazon, then sit at home to wait and hope for the brown or white truck to arrive.

MY family's Gap/Old Navy store card was issued by Synchrony. It is used infrequently and always paid off in full the day it comes in the mail. There's never been a hint or suggestion I'm at risk of being dropped.

Either the bank or B&H pays the tax. If it's the bank, they make a killing if you fail to pay off the card in time. B&H may a higher fee to the bank.
OEM dealers and the factory sell at the same price. You can build a personal relationship with a dealer but not so with a OEM direct and they will know you and guide you.

If memory serves me (which it often doesn't anymore), Adorama has a similar card with a flat 5% rebate?

Payboo is credit card through B&H photo. It will save u bucks. Well worth getting.
Pay it off when bill comes. Yeah it was a PIA to get.
I find Payboo to be a real money saver. I don't care who pays the tax... I don't and that's all I care about. I'm saving a lot of money! I had no problem at all acquiring the card. In all my years of using credit cards I've never failed to pay my card off as soon as it came in the mail. I've never been dropped by anyone.

I know a woman who had an Amex card that she hadn't used in years, and they offered her money to cancel it. She kept it.
