If the price is the same, more or less, is there any advantage to ordering directly from Nikon as opposed to one of the other sellers such as Adorama, etc.?

Nikon doesn't give you any free stuff

For the same price including shipping I would go with Amazon or anyone but Nikon much easier and more flexible return policy

"Payboo"???

Payboo is a Credit Card that B&H has with Synchrony Bank, they let you reduce the price by the amount of the Sales Tax if you pay by the first statement due date. I have saved $$$$$ this way a few times.

Payboo is a credit card that B&H offers. If you go on their site, you'll see a link that allows you to secure a card for yourself. Then, you place your order on that card, the site computes the cost of your purchase, including tax, but the credit card bill you get will not include the tax. Basically, B&H is paying the tax for you.

When I first learned of this, I was surprised. What business would willingly pay your tax for you?

Well, since that makes the product cheaper for you than it would be on any other site, or even locally, this could induce you to buy from B&H all the time.

As mentioned several times, this is a 29.95% credit card, and if you pay the balance off over time, it could actually cost you money. They must be counting on this, or they wouldn't pay the tax for you. Yes, pay it off when you get the bill and you save money. I've never had a problem with B&H, but I would still prefer to buy locally if an item is available. Small businesses like camera stores have been devastated by the retail giants, and this affects the lives of people who live in our communities.

I would support the local store. I really want to see the camera before I buy. I don't want to buy several and return the ones I don't want. Doing so creating a problem for everyone. The online and easy return business model isn't what I think ideal. Easy return has a cost which the stores will have to pass on to all customers.

Bravo, Action Camera! I'm a customer of the Action Reno Store. The arrived after the long time Pro-level retailer retired and closed his stores. They picked up the manager and one of the best reps, and really serve us well. hey do teh classes, outings and "Rep Talks" from teh major vendors. I've done my share of purchases from teh big boys, but local Bricks and Mortar support so much more. I'm really glad they came to Reno!

MY family's Gap/Old Navy store card was issued by Synchrony. It is used infrequently and always paid off in full the day it comes in the mail. There's never been a hint or suggestion I'm at risk of being dropped.

Lowe’s Home Improvement Stores credit cards are issued by Synchrony Bank, as well as many other private label credit cards.

I have a stack of cards dating back 30 years all paid off by the first due date, after a purchase. I never 👎 pay interest to a credit card company.

I buy from local whenever possible. He is an authorized dealer and has more sales than Nikon. During lockdown, he also hosted free zoom virtual presentations from with Nikon, Canon, and others.

Manufacturers are not going to undercut their retailers.

Support your local camera store if you still have one.

I know a woman who had an Amex card that she hadn't used in years, and they offered her money to cancel it. She kept it.

Why would they offer her money to cancel her card?? They can do that on their own.

I've saved $180. B&H sells items other than camera gear, so I always check with them first.

Growing tired of Nikon, especially when they advertise Black Friday Sales. There's no price difference than the ones they lower two or three weeks prior. Anywhere. Nikon doesn't seem to recognize Black Friday, Tuesday's, Early Thursdays, none of it. Christmas? What's that?

I've never been dissatisfied with B&H, Adorama or KEH. Never have bought direct, and don't regret it.

This makes it worthwhile to order from them.
