Yes I can. My statement being relative to my own work and my own standard. Not in direct comparison to referenced individual's work or personal standard.

In other words, my argument being a better body doesn't necessarily mean "I" will produce better images than "I" did in the past with more keepers and top shelf images. I was meaning relative only to "my" own work. It's not comparing against the other person's work directly. Hope that makes sense?

You don't create great images while admiring all the features your camera doesn't have.

There are many good reasons to upgrade: extra money laying around, a fondness of gear, status, bragging rights on websites, but my favorite is a desire to supply the less fortunate with a flood of barely used great equipment.

I like the third one the best.

He’s just inventing statistics. Not worth discussion. I know I’m better than him, yet I probably cull far more shamelessly. Shame ? Reeeeally, like who’s counting ? Who’s even watching ?

As I said, just invented statistics. Make up your own, everybody does. Check his archives (all pix removed). And acoarst, be sure to mark your calendar !

Studies have shown that everyone should buy a new camera every 3 years.

Hey! I’m gonna agree with you for a change. Anybody that’s upgrading has a good reason to, at least good enough for them. And anybody that doesn’t want to upgrade has a reason that’s good to them. The thing with these posts is it’s all the people that don’t want to upgrade crapping on those that do by trying to invalidate any reason you might want a new camera. They feel like they have to justify their choice, like we care what their choice is. Then they need to cast aspersions that people that want these new features are doing it because we lack their superior photography skills. Then you go look at stuff they’ve posted in the photo gallery and it’s a bunch of snapshots.

Which I think was exactly Paul’s point

I was reading an article titled: “Should you upgrade?”

My hackles rose immediately. My reaction was hell no!!! (less polite than in the title).

The article presented a mixed bag of yes/no, but really was pushing toward 'Yes'.

The two arguments toward a 'yes' are simple:
► The stuff does not work for any reason that cost more than the rice of a new item that is more performant
► The stuff is inadequate for a series of given situation.

Everything else is simple fallacious arguments that appeals only to folks who do not care about $$$ and those that care more about 'stuff' than anything else.
I was reading an article titled: “Should you upgra... (show quote)

Or are you upset that Nikon made the D850 and most all F mount lenses obsolete after 3 decades of bashing Canon for going 21st century with the EOS system.

Yeah, I call bull. Your exact words, “You miss the point. I will always get more keeper images than you will and I will always get more top shelf images”, are a direct comparison. Unless maybe you’re saying you’ll get more keepers because your standards are lower.

I won't waste my time posting any new thread. I can see there will be no point.
Very gear driven and not photography driven here.

So you’re upset that a thread about gear has a lot of comments about gear. 🤔
There are plenty of comments not about gear. You’ve just chosen threads about gear to comment in. Usually about how superior you are with old gear over people with new gear. And nobody can validate your claims about great work because you used some funky system where your images are no longer available.

I agree with the second paragraph, but the post I commented on clearly says "I" will get more keeper images than "you" will.

Show me a photographer who hasn't accomplished very much and I'll show you all his old equipment.
