A few years ago I checked into a motel near there. There were several pix of Horseshoe Bend hanging on the walls so I asked if it was nearby. It was, so I went out there and hiked out to the viewpoint but the sun was setting. I was looking directly into the sun so got no good pix of it. I did, however, go back to the motel and took some shots of the pix hanging on the wall. i guess I have HSB checked off my bucket list.

👍👍 Very soon, the more appropriate question may be “can you see the water “ in the bend?

I also see a great amount of evidence of careless human activity - including what looks to be a government sign, trails and trash.

Beautiful pictures!!
Are you aware the entire rim is sandstone (known to be not very strong and crumbly and if one falls from where you took the picture, one falls almost 160 feet before any way to stop. The day I was there several adults were laying right on the edge and allowing small children to do the same so they could get selfies.

This is exactly why the helicopter rescue teams take a few people direct to the morgue each year and bypass the hospital stop, altogether. It's more like 1,000 feet non-stop drop, not 160.
