I use Google Drive, but not for my photos, since I only pay for 80Gb a year. Works great across all the platforms I have: Android, PC, and iPad.

They told me that I could not back up pictures...... With 12 terabytes of images on two Drobos that the backup would take years

nikonshooter - I think it's time for you to move to the next step in data storage called archiving. Yes, there is a distinction between backup and archiving. 12TBs of photos is indeed impressive. If even 80% of this number are worth saving, then you must be an awesome photographer! Moreover, you might have a future with Google as well. :-)

Good article. Thanks for the link... I suspect most of us fall into the simple backup strategy category. Moreover, I'd like to dispell the thought that keeping your data safe has to be expensive---it doesn't. Yet, I can see how this solution would work wonders for some, especially for those who have absolutely no time for all this backup nonsense. The risk of course is relying too much on one technology. Don't kid yourself, drobo devices are not foolproof (nothing is), so backups still require you to avoid being a fool! Yes, this is easy for me to say since I have a computer science background, but a little tech understanding goes a long way. If you are not tech savvy, then find someone who is and invest some time into drafting a backup plan for your needs. Make sure you take notes and ask lots of questions. This will pay-off in the long run.

Carbonite does a great job of backing up your hard drive on your machine. The price is slightly higher for external hard drives

Has any one used Jimmy Drive? If so what is your opinion?
