I've used USAA since 1972. No complaints. Farmers does have clever ads, and their website has other claims that were paid that were very interesting.

Been with Farmers now for 11 years. Have had 2 claims with them and they took care of the damages to my vehicle each time. They even provided 30 days of a rental each time and when the car was not finished within that 30 days they extended it for another week until the vehicle was done. They even took care of all medical/ambulatory bills

Had fantastic service with Farmers for several decades until moving. Not so good here. Insurance rep moved to the coast and promised to come to town once a month. Changed reps and I could never get hold of her even though she kept insisting (via email) we meet to ensure my coverage was adequate.

Yeah, I've found that the individual can be more important than the company - in any situation.

I've been with Farmers insurance for forty-plus years. The times that I needed them, they were right there helping out. I rolled a vehicle in ninety-nine and had the funds to replace it within a week. My rates didn't go up because of it. I think you'll be happy with them.
