I've had MetLife insurance for about forty years, but it was switched to Farmers. MetLife was excellent. Any opinions about Farmers? I know they have clever ads on TV, but how's their service?

Who switched it and why? No opinions about Farmers, but they do have clever commercials.

MetLife and Farmers made a deal, and some of the ML customers were moved to Farmers.
I have Farmers for auto and home. After about 2 years, I have no complaints at all. Friendly office and decent prices.
My neighbor three doors down has Farmers. A few years ago a hurricane came through and blew things around including a few houses, his included. They built him a better house than what he had, did some extra services and it only cost him the deductible. He is very happy with it
Had a tree fall and hit the barn roof and snow fall weight off a roof take out a section of porch. They paid the claim promptly and the cancelled the policy.
"Farmer's Insurance came in very handy when we had our buggy crash. They provided cash right away for a new one."

When a tree fell on my roof, MetLife paid to have it completely replaced.

I had Allstate for probably 40 years when I lived in CA. But when I moved to AZ the rates were different so I switched to Farmers. The agent I use is very friendly and seems to be on the ball. I have no claims with them. I've had 2-3 claims with Allstate which were very well done and I was completely satisfied.
On another note, I clicked on something either on FB or Insta that had a picture of a pretty girl on it and as soon as it started to develop into an ad for something I hit the back arrow to avoid the ad. Too late. Within a minute of hitting the pretty girls picture calls started coming in from every insurance agent in the world. I also got texts, and emails from some. Somehow, this link thought I was in need of insurance for my 2006 Honda Civic with 202,000 miles on it. This should be illegal.
I have been with farmers for over 25 years. Always thought I was treated fairly

That's what they do. Happened to my parents after too many (3) tows. They had a car problem the dealer struggled to repair properly.
I have had Farmers homeowners and auto insurance for about 40 years and they have excelent service. Once I tried to find less expensive insurance and could not. I think they are terrific.
The real question is how is the Farmers claim service in your area? I worked in the insurance industry for nearly 50 years and found a wide variation in claims handling by company/by territory.
Until you have a claim, an insurance policy is just an expensive piece of paper. Once you have a major claim you will find that the service you get from the company claims adjuster is worth much more than the cost of the policy. In 2009 I had major fire/smoke damage in my house. The adjuster who handled it was exemplary, took care of all the details, made it as painless as possible for me. On the flip side, being in the insurance industry I've heard horror stories about lousy claims adjusters. One of the worst ones was a family that lost their farm home to a brush fire, company told them since their home was gone they no longer had any insurance.
