I shoot mainly outdoor/nature and use a Pentax K3iii/55-300PLM combo 99% of the time. I'd just purchased the 1.4x tele-converter to give me some extra legs for those long shots so common in outdoor shooting. Went down to my favorite creek trail, and started taking test shots; ended up with these of an Orange Sulfur butterfly and a Northern Water Snake that had been peacefully enjoying a nap on the warm gravel trail when I so rudely woke it up. Not a happy snake; especially when I was standing between it and the creek. Managed these shots as it crawled towards me, determined to get to the water. Took these pics and stood aside and it took off like an arrow; down the bank and into the creek. The camera/TC/Lens performed admirably.

Beautiful set. How did you get the snake to cooperate?

It was dead set on not cooperating since I was standing between it and safety(the creek). It did crawl towards me slowly enough that I could shoot these. Me being down low to the ground helped also.
