I just donated my time to photograph a luncheon for Veterans at a horse rescue, in NY. I donated all the images for the Vets and for the rescue to use. As a long time photographer it is my way of *paying it forward*
Here is the link to the images on my website.

My friend in Shell, Wy has just started working with this organization, donating his time & location to offer horseback riding to Vets. Both he and his wife are Vets. It is called Saddles in Service. There are several locations.
I thought if there are several people here that want to donate. I can send his address or the main organization for those who want to donate.

If you are interested in donating to Vets. Send me a pm and I will send you my friends address.

Hello
Anyone know how a disabled veteran can get a free digital camera of processing software in Florida?

You can purchase it and give it to him.
This might sound snide and crass but being a disabled veteran doesn't automatically qualify someone for free equipment.
I served my country and I am also disabled however I would never think about joining a photo forum and as a first post ask about getting free gear.
I saved a little bit at a time from my disability check until I could afford an old DSLR just to see if I would enjoy the hobby.
Older model cameras and kit lenses are not that expensive.
I'll guarantee you can find a setup for under $200.00 with camera batteries and a couple lenses.
The Gimp software is freeware so it's very affordable.

Determining what kind of camera (size, shape, need) is important as we know little about the physical capability of the recipient. If they have special unmet needs such as grasping issues, missing limbs, lost eyesight, it would help to identify the best camera type/style for them. The other part of the equation is whether they need something that is fully automatic (point and shoot) or something more complex with A-P-M selector and optional menu items. I often win cameras in auctions and give them away as random acts of kindness to people. I currently am bidding on some Nikon equipment. If I win, and it fits his/her need, I will be happy to donate to a veteran.

She is seeking a digital dslr and associated items along with a bag or backpack as she plans to do landscapes, family and family events. She is capable of carrying weight up to 25 pounds has all 4 limbs and good eyesight. She is needing a camera to help with her depression from PTSD and other issues.

Good luck with your endeavor. I am also a disabled veteran. When I was starting out the DAV gave me a lead on someone who gave me a 40% discount on a Canon AE1 and lenses. If you can afford it, around Christmas the Army Air Force and Navy Exchanges have pretty good deals although their cameras are usually 1 generation behind. You might try a used camera from one of the reputable used dealers like KEH or MGP or even used from Adorama and B&H. Best camera deals will be black Friday to Christmas although this year might not be as good because of shipping delays for new cameras.

Thank you for your service.
My friend and his wife are veterans. They just got involved with Saddles for service. My friend has PTSD. He has the horses, the location and the room to help other veterans with PTSD. It helps him and the others.

Seeing this post made me think that maybe some of the veterans he works with would like to get into photography when they go home. I have my first point/shoot digital camera. I will send it to him to offer to the folks that he hosts.

Anyone who wants to donate, can pm me and I will send you his address in Shell, Wy.
