You act like the manufacturers want this to happen. They are victims of the supply chain like everyone else. I have 2 products that I joined the Kickstart campaign and both of these are legitimate companies that have been selling products for 3-4 years. One product is almost a year behind because of issues that certain chips have not been available. The chips just became available with some shipping mid month and the rest by the end of the month so that assembly and testing can proceed and shipping by Christmas. The same for the other product. One issue with cameras, cars etc is that they aren't using the same die size as CPU's and GPU's used in computers. Both industries use older less expensive chips because they don't need all the power. The chip manufacturers just told the auto industry to design their components for newer platforms as they are using 90-120nm chips and I expect that cameras are built on chips larger than 20nm. They don't need the ability to put billions of transmitters and other components on a single chip which would increase heat and costs.
The shortages are hitting every industry because we rely so much on automation.
All that being said, shipping around the world is the slowest it's ever been in modern times. Not only are the ports at full capacity but the warehouses at the port are 98% full as of last week. There is also a very severe trucking issue as millions of drivers have left the business. There are a lot of jobs now paying the same or better and that is preferable to spending 10-14 hours a day driving.

I know they report a shortage drivers. But my observation is far more Semis on the road than ever before.
I also don’t get the alleged demand surge. Where are people supposed to be getting the money now that excess unemployment is stopped and employment is service industries is way down?
Maybe there is excess demand to replenish inventory of some items; e.g. toilet paper.

You're lucky you have the refund. I always have to pay them and my check got to them fast even I sent them by what we call "Snail Mail".
Getting a refund means you overpaid your taxes during the year. They pay zero interest on your free contributions but it helps the National Debt.
Are we trying to get this thread moved to the attic? It seems to drifted far from photography?

My original thread. . which was a mild complaint about so much that we buy is backordered and we often wait weeks or months to receive our order, if its received at all. . the thread has morphed into something not even resembling the original thought. Such anger from some uhh'ers. Wow.
Lighten up, guys. Take a chill pill.
Someday, possibly in my lifetime, my camera will arrive. I just hope I'm not too old to use it.
Got an email from Amazon today regarding the Nikon Z fc w/28mm se, ordered June 23.
"Arriving Oct 22 - Oct 25"Times have changed. Four months instead of Four days. If I was waiting for my first camera it would probably seem like a lifetime.

As the writer of this thread, B&H has said today that my camera may arrive "to be shipped" around Oct 20th. I'm not that confident of this prediction.
There are extensive delays up and down the supply, manufacturing, and distribution chain. I recently read an article that Canon had designated a number of products as delayed. Although I pre-ordered my RF100mm macro, it took 4 or 5 months to receive from B&H. I am still awaiting the tripod ring I ordered contemporaneously.
Our expectations of quick delivery has certainly escalated during the Covid pandemic and more folks ordered more products on-line.
Personally, I think some of the expectations of same day or next day delivery are unreasonable. Additionally, I wonder about the impact of the increased number of vehicles running around making deliveries and the impact of emissions in the environment.

So we should go back to the brick and mortar days. You can go look at the cameras, try out the demo and decide whether you would take home a camera that day. People are now buying 2, 3 cameras in order to decide which one and return the rest. That causes serious problem if you worry about the environment.

Just got another update. Delivery now expected between Friday and Sunday. They haven't charged me yet, but they did ping my credit card.
Is now the right time to ask UHH members if I really need another camera, or should I wait until Saturday?

I ordered a new recliner and the expected delivery time is 9 months! It's crazy out there. Check around and see if you can find your equipment at another vendor. I have had better luck getting an item quicker from Canon online than BH. Try Samys too as well as other online or in store camera shops. Then buy and cancel your backorder. There is a camera store in Dallas Oregon that surprisingly has things in stock when no one else does. You could give them a call- Focal Point. They will ship. A little legwork is better than waiting for months. Good luck.

I had a similar issue with my tax return, we finally contacted our US representative, and his staffers helped get it for us.
I’m still waiting for my 2019 refund. Got my 2020 refund last week though. Impossible to get through to IRS.

It's right next to my Nikon Fc w/ 28mm ordered in July. I think the ship's anchor is caught on an oil pipeline.

My Z fc left Illinois around 1 PM today.
Hopefully it is heading east.

Today at around 4:00 pm Amazon arrived right in the middle of their estimated delivery date.
Below for comparison are the Df, Z50, Z cf and the mostly retired FM2
