These are all candid shots straight from the camera using a 420EX flash with a piece of white paper and a rubber band. A real budget set up.

I like it except for one small point. When using flash, and I've had this problem many times, if you can get your subject away from the background as in the couch in 2 and 3, you won't get that shadow that always appears around the subjects ears.

Nice photos... I love candid shots especially of children - the do the darndest things don't they.

I would recommend sticking with your Photoshop 7. Go on You Tube and you will find lots of tutorials that will quicklly teach you how to use it. Of all the editing programs out there, print quality from Photoshop is rated far ahead of the competition and the difference is astounding!
There is no such thing as a computer program that does not have some kind of learning curve. You might as well take the time to learn the best as the would be copies.
Just my 3 cents worth . . .

Thank's jimmya !!! I do understand the shadow problems being close to the background but that can be difficult to rectify when your subject is a 2 year old. They are all candid shots and I have to accept what I can get. Someday I will have him posing for me. I take care of Thomas and 3 other siblings 4 days a week for 10 to 12 hours per day. They are 9-8-5 and 2 years old. We do have fun taking pictures and making videos though. I am relatively new to photography and just trying to learn more. The next thing on my list is to learn something about Photoshop one way or the other. Up to this point I have concentrated on trying to take the best pictures I possibly can using just my camera without reworking them using editing software. So far I am happy with my result doing it that way. I am looking forward to next Thursday night when the Pro Photograpy instructor comes to my house for a private session. He charges only $50.00 for a 2 hour session and I will learn some things about using photoshop to at least remove objects from the background. No matter what I am going to enjoy taking candid shots of Kids and anything else I think might look good to me.

Thank's for your 3 cents worth Weddingguy !!! I am beginning to get overwhelmed with Hi Tech gadgets and computer software. I have enough here to keep me busy full time almost. Two Desktop TV'S with HD TV tuners in both, 2 Cable TV DVR'S, Canon HD camcorder, Sony PS3, XBOX 360, WII console, 60" Plasma TV and all of this tied together using 2 HDMI switchers, 1 HDMI splitter and 1 KVM switch. Doing all of this without any kind of schooling has been a challenge but I did it. Learned everything by trial and error and reading. Made a lot of dumb mistakes along the way and I am sure I will make more but I won't give up. Even though I am 71 I am very thankful that I am still able to do that. Wish me Luck. Photoshop is my next challenge.
