Curious what you mean by vested interest… The YouTubers I follow are not particularly fans of any one brand.

MaxTech (for example) is very careful to be balanced in their reviews and tests. They buy their own gear. They review and compare many models from many brands. They are paid two ways… by their own sponsors like Square Space, and by Google YouTube ads placed to interrupt their programs at the most annoying points possible.

Plain reviews based on neutral benchmarks are hard to argue with - while there are some benefits to using an M1, there are comparable benefits to using an AMD 5900 - which is just as fast, fully supported on current Win10 and does not require a software/OS update to get it's benefits. Intel is now playing catchup with it's considerably more expensive i9 chips. Battery life is better on the more efficient M1 whose architecture supports a smaller shared ram space with no performance hit, but full-multi-core performance still goes to the AMD 5900.
