These would be similar to CMC's find - on a rotting stump, but seem to be smaller than what he found.

Thanks for the challenge Pat. Love your third shot. What a fantastical shape! Might even be tasty!
I once went foraging for mushrooms in England early in the morning, with someone who knew which ones were right.
Breakfast was fried wild mushrooms, eggs, bacon and tomatoes.

These Amanita Muscarias are a different story. The open one in the first shot is the size of a small dinner plate.
Famously hallucinogenic.
My lichen shot includes a Brown Creeper on the prowl.

l-fox, that second one is special. Nice one.
I'll have to try that with my 4 yr. old GrandDaughter.
I bet she'd get a kick out of that...

Thanks for another Free Sunday, Larry. And here we go kicking off another week of challenges. Up here, it's been a banner year for mushrooms, fungi and toadstools (I'm sure there is a distinction to be made, but if interested, look it up ) I have never seen so many and such different types.

Here's are some to get us started.

Beautiful start, Pat. I love a good fungi ….

….especially prepared with my meal!

We have several tree stumps along our property line that, periodically, produce an odd assortment of toadstools and fungi. These appeared just last week.
