File missnamed on SD card with Sony RX10m4

Good day all,
My first post here - I hope I'm doing the right thing here.
When I upload a set of photos from my RX10m4 (fantastic camera) there's usually one file that gets misnamed and without a suffix added - e.g. .jpg I look for a gap in the numbering within the set to rename the file with the correct name. Anyone else found this? And what might be the solution?
Thanks,
Boggles

I have had a Sony RX10iv for two years and have not experienced the problem.

What are you using to upload the images?
From the camera? From the card? Computer operating system?

I have owned the RX10 IV since 2018. I have not noticed that.

I never upload from the camera. I always upload from the card into the computer. works just as good as the uploads do but without the cable. Just remove the card and insert it into the computer and then read the card and you are all set to go. Then you can erase the photos when you are done or store then to another device as a backup.

If you haven't already, try a camera reset. If the problem still occurs, then it is probably due to a corruption error in the software loaded into your camera.

Before resetting anything on the camera, I would format the card in a computer, theN format it in the camera, and see how it reacts.

Does it always appear in the same location - beginning, middle, end?
Are the wrong names always similar?
Does there seem to be a relationship between the bad name and the other names?

You might know that you can supply a prefix to the files names that the camera applies.

Something likely interrupted the process of writing the image data to the SD card. Turning the camera off, making some setting change, etc.

That usually buggers the files themselves, not simply changing the file name.
But who knows...

Probably depends on just when in the file writing process the blip occurs.

Definitely.
Another question. Aside from a "blip", if you shut down the camera when it is in the process of writing a file, does it finish the task before shutting down or stop right there...
I'll guess the information transfer gets halted.

I've had the RX10 IV since if was released and never seen this problem. I always move the images off the memory card using an external reader.

My understanding of our description of the problem:
1) Occurs on an UNSTATED computer running an UNSTATED operating system at an UNSTATED version.
2) Impacts one or zero image files each upload.
3) The image file (UNSTATED format) is correct on the computer, but the name is not.
4) The image file (UNSTATED format) is correct on the card (necessary), but is is UNSTATED if the file name is correct.

You have already learned that yours is not a common problem. It is probably something that is fairly unique to your situation. If everything is correct on your cards, then it is likely some rare computer problem. If the problem shows up on the cards, then it is likely a card or camera problem. The missing details in your description may help lead to a solution.

Please provide more information:
1) State all the UNSTATEDs and correct any misunderstandings I listed.
2) Does this happen on multiple cards or just one?
3) What is the manufacturer/model of your cards and how old are they?
4) Do you format your cards in the camera or the computer?
5) Do you reformat every time you reuse a card?
6) What is the file system on the cards (e.g., exFAT)
4) Provide a real sequence of image file names that demonstrate the problem (e.g., IMG_0034.jpg, A%SG2A, IMG_0036.jpg).
