Third Covid Shot

I went to Walgreens to get my 3rd Pfizer shot as it's been 7 months and 2 weeks since my last one and I'm 72 years old. The pharmacist asked me if I was immunocompromised and I said not that I know of, after which he said we're only doing those. I showed him the news article on my phone where both the FDA and the CDC had approved it for people over 65 and his comment was that their corporate headquarters had not approved it yet! So, their loss. I went a quarter mile up the road to Walmart and was jabbed within five minutes of entering the store... good ole Walmart to the rescue.

I easily made an appointment at a CVS half an hour from here, and I brought what they said I would need: a mask, ID, and insurance card. After she spent some time on the computer, the woman there said, "Can I see your card?"
"What card?" I asked.
"Your CDC vaccination card."
"I couldn't find it."
Then she asked the question I've heard on TV a hundred times, "What do you mean you couldn't find it?"
I was wearing a mask so she didn't see me almost laugh. I thought a moment and said, "I wasn't able to locate it."

No card - no shot. I went home, dug around, and found it. Now I have my third Covid shot and the "super" flu shot, so I'm set for at least six months. The extra strength flu shot is recommended for people over 65.

I keep my card right in my wallet just in case. I go for my booster tomorrow at CVS.

Congratulations. We got our "senior" flu shot a few days ago. Moderna Covid shot not available yet. Checking things off the list, one at a time.

Moderna booster IS available at Safeway Pharmacy and CVS Pharmacy. I got mine nine days ago.

No Jerry, you’re “not set for 6 months”, however you have reduced your risk to another level.

I mean I'm set for shots. No more for six months.

If you can find it, there is usually a website for your state to get a QR Code that can be scanned to show your Shots.
In VA. it's VDH.GOV but I'm sure you can get yours in your state.
Someone with a QR Code App. on their cell phone or reader can read it and verify your shots.
I took my shot record card and folded it in half and keep it in my wallet under my drivers license.
You might want to wait until your QR code has been upgraded to show any new shots.
If you don't know what a QR code is, it's that funny looking square with all the ,what looks like spaghetti inside.

Getting my Pfizer booster tomorrow and waiting a week or so to get my flu shot. Having watched my son and wife (both vaccinated) go through a breakthrough infection ~6 months after the initial doses, I want to avoid that. Neither required hospitalization, but it wasn’t fun, and my son’s 4 children (too young to be vaccinated) had full blown infections. They have recovered, and I hope/pray there are no lasting effects other than missing the first few weeks of school.

Anti-Vaxers PLEASE don’t hijack this thread (again).

I don’t think I have read a single “anti- vax” post on this web site. Pro choice and pro consent, yes, but not anti. Good news too that all those close to you now also have natural antibodies.

There were a few early in the pandemic, but now I think most people are either pro or feel they better not speak out against it as that stance is getting more and more unpopular as the pandemic drags on.

Thanks. The NY site has a phone number I can call. Now that I have the card, I scanned it and printed another copy. I probably could have bought a counterfeit card online.

Waiting for the Moderna booster to be approved. I plan on getting it once it is.

My wife and I received the Moderna version, last April, and my best friend got the J & J shot at the same time. And just where the hell are they? All I hear is a vague, "Modern and J & J approval might be coming in a few weeks." I would think they'd be just as anxious to sell another hundred million doses as Pfizer was. What; did they retool all their equipment to make vitally important cosmetic Botox injections?!

I got my Moderna booster shot 10 days ago at Safeway Pharmacy. Also available at CVS Pharmacy. It was 6 and a half months from my second Moderna shot.

Is that site for Boosters or original vaccinations? I couldn’t tell from the info provided. Did I miss something?

Are you sure it was a booster? So far, the FDA has approved only the Pfizor vaccine as a (third shot) booster. I believe a booster is given at a different dosage level than a first-time vaccination so how do Safeway and CVS know how much to inject as a booster?

Why could they not find you in their computer system, if you got your first 2 shots at CVS it still should be in the system, I know ours in the system still.
