This is just a frustrated vent. Stop reading here if you don't want to laugh.

I won two lenses on an online auction website the first week of September. Not so worried about the lenses as cost was miniscule compared to new cost. (I will post when they arrive). Their shipment started on Sept 9. They have crossed back and forth, up and down the State of California 4 times!!! The shipment was somehow stuck in the Fedex system. It required them tracking down the order and putting a new label on it and even then it traveled north and south another two times. The round trips went from Ontario to Tracy hubs. I notified Fedex that I was watching my package go back and forth and they put a team on it. I got a phone call this morning saying the package should arrive within a day.

These lenses have more mileage on them then all the rest of my lenses combined! LOL But... the good news is they have low shutter count. HA HA HA

We shall see how good of a score this is for $7.00 and $16.00 for the lens pair. It cost Fedex more in labor and fuel than what I paid for the lenses.

Rant over. Registered snivel complete.

Thanks for lens saga. I had to visit a UPS distribution center a couple times to receive my package.

Don't keep us in suspense -- what lenses did you buy? Being from California originally, I know where those cities are and sympathize with you regarding your lenses' saga.

Good Old Fed Ex. I sent a large and expensive package to CA 13 days ago. It got stuck in NV and they haven't updated any transit information for the past 6 days. When I called they told me it was in Tracy, CA but the online tracking still shows NV.
The worst performance I've ever experienced in shipping.

You are welcome. I am hoping my lenses aren't in pieces from all the handling.

Vivitar Series 1 (Nikon F Mount) 70-210mm f/3.5 w/macro and hard leather case - $7.00 + shipping
Nikkor AF 35-70mm f/3.3-4.5 Lens - $16.00 + shipping

Also won a Nikon SB-24 speedlight - $7.00 + shipping and coming on a different delivery

Some of the Nikon lenses I have won have been pristine like new even though 20-40 years old.

Fingers crossed!

Davey it boggles the imagination! I guess given the number of packages they move a day and given the shortage of staff post Covid I guess we are fortunate to get any deliveries. :)

Got to keep a close eye on FedEx I had an order that was supposed to get to my house on the weekend and I was tracking it carefully and awaiting it only for it to say that it was out for delivery.
I was home eagerly waiting for it and I get a text from FedEx saying that they were unable to deliver since no one was there to accept it.
Bear in mind that this was no signature required and the instructions were clear e exactly where to leave it.
That same thing happened two deliveries in a row.

I understand your rant. I live in Florida and have ordered things that originated in California. It gets to Florida within 2 days and then the challenge begins. It starts in Orlando (about 40 minutes east of me) then goes to Ybor city (30 minutes west of me) then to my town and then up to Lakeland (30 minutes west of me) then down to Sarasota (90 minutes southwest) back to Ybor city and then to my town. If I'm lucky I'll get it within 2 days of arriving here lol

I had a similar problem with FedEx. Suppose to expect a Saturday delivery of a Digital Camera by 4p.m. Received noticed that the camera was derived to my apartment front door. Opened up the front door no package locked the door and started to go downstairs and found the package sitting in front of the elevator door. Called FedEx and told them I never received package, do to fact signature was required for the item and I never signed to the package but still drive said it was left at the apartment front door. Three hours later I received a phone call from FedEx on this item and told them what was going on with this item and where item was found. Driver was fired the next day when he reported in for work.

I hope the same for you. Let me please suggest that you snap photos of your package when you finally lay hands on it. Take pictures of every side of it. Keep all paperwork associated with your purchase and the delivery snafu.

You may wish to do a video of the opening of the package, with a view to documenting any damage or irregularity. Doing so will aid returns, refunds, any warranty claim.
You have to protect yourself.

Keep us posted on this saga.

I traced a USPS mailed prescription back and forth across the country for 11 days. At one point, it was at a hub only a mile from my residence in L.A., then flew off to Rhode Island! The postmaster said sometimes the envelopes get hung up in the edge of a box and it goes wherever the box goes. It's a good thing it wasn't a life-saving medication!

There may be more truth to this than meets the eye... more to come.
