Finally made. Having no interest in mirrorless I finally took the plunge. Started with the Nikon D 5100, Then D7200 both bought new. Then a used D810 and yesterday I used some of that IRA money in the bank and got a new D850. So far so good. After the D810 the learning curve is not as bad as it could be.
Want to sell the 810? Lol

Seems very reasonable to inquire.
If he believes the 850 needs an expensive ultra preformance lens the sale of the 810 could help finance that.

That's what I was thinking. Lol.

I have a 50MP camera. Assuming ideal conditions and technique it can prove certain lenses are extra special. But in general use there’s seldom any visual evidence of all those MP, so I’ll usually choose something smaller and more convenient (no, not my phone ...).

I use a D5oo and shoot mainly wildlife and macro. I want a 850for the focus stacking and cropping abilities

Acoarst. Likewise I have very specific applications for 50MP. I use T/S lenses but they will seldom provide complete “correction”. This then leaves it to the editor to complete the job, and it does better work with more pixels in play.
You mention cropping, and perspective cancelation always involves a degree of cropping. The T/S lenses are useful to minimize the task involving the editor.
I also love 15mm fisheye, but usually crop it a bit to decenter the “bull’s eye”
perspective, and often to level (rotate) the image.
All this would very much justify a D850. But the T/S and fisheye lenses just did not happen to be Nikon mount. I use a very random array of gear and some adapters, but you can’t adapt anything onto the F-mount. So no D850 for me. But in your situation I suggest you get one before it’s too late !

Love the D850, IMHO, it is the best DSLR ever made. Took it to Iceland along with my D850, Nikon 24-120, and Nikon 500 5.6 PF lens, and a Polarizer Filter.
Below are some images of Vigor Island.
Enjoy the best DSLR ever made. Excellent choice. You have done well grasshopper.
First image was the Vigor Island welcoming committee.
Second is of the oldest working boat in Iceland.
Last image of the Northern most working windmill in the world.
Three examples of perfection 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆
Congratulations, enjoy your new toys.

Very wise purchases Starlifter.

There was zero mention of “mirrorless” so just get you back under your bridge.
Actually, the OP mentioned a lack of interest in mirrorless in the second sentence of his initial post.
And before you repeat your earlier response made to someone else, consider that the word "mention" means to refer to something briefly without going into detail. That is exactly what the OP did. Perhaps you should lighten up on the unnecessary insults.

Exactly your usual. Not even half way entertaining. So you’re choking on my “mention about mentions”. Taint my problem. “Mirrorless” is “disinvited”, as per the first post, grammar gestapo notwithstanding. “Mirrorless” is off the table. Happily celebrating an eleventh hour snag of the last great Nikon SLR, possibly before the final curtain call.
