That is a funny story! Glad you didn’t have a big Hawk after your Jack Russel! I have seen BTP’s in the woods before up here in Oregon. Never hunted them...and now they are too pretty to shooting! PS...always glad to share birds! Take care, Walt

The Coopers around here have never even attempted to bother Tara. She is twenty pounds with 200 pounds of attitude when something gets her upset. I often call her my "Mighty Hunter". The sabretooths, mountain lions, cave bears and dragons live in fear of her. I haven't got the heart to tell her they are squirrels, field mice, tree rats and lizards. She has killed a couple of opossums and almost drowned a raccoon by not letting it out of the pool after she chased it in when she was only a bit less than 2 years old. No raccoons or opossums dumb enough to come in the yard in a over 10 years now. They stick to using the fence tops as a highway to go through the neighborhood now.

Besides for almost 10 years now she has a sidekick. My wife's Shin Zhu (a bit bigger than Tara and with that "hair armor" 3-4 inches long he looks a lot bigger. Debra got Toby from her sister when he was 3 years old. Wendy's new house the neighborhood association only allowed one adult dog so she kept her big watchdog and we got Toby. Between them our "Yard Police" have a rep with the small critters in the area

Love your dog already! Ok I can stop worrying looks like! LOl...we had a Toy Fox Terrier like that, same attitude! He even ran away from home one summer and ran with a pack of dogs all over town for 3 months. The dog catcher vowed to get him but never could! He finally came home after his grand adventure, on his own, never to do it again.

That raccoon was bigger than Tara. She would not let it out of the pool. It was getting close to drowning from exhaustion so I had to pick her up while it barely managed to climb out of the pool and get over the fence.
We had just gotten Toby a short time before and Tara had already become the boss even though he was two years older. Toby just sit on the side of the pool watching and barked. I am not sure which side he was cheering on.

Tara was born the weekend after Thanksgiving 2009 to the dog of the lady across the street. Now at almost 12 somehow she has missed the "dignified" part of "dignified little old/late middle aged lady" in spite of the gray hairs and limp from damage to her right rear hip and spine jumping off an 8' retaining wall at about 6 months. When she has a good reason, like a squirrel, the pain and limp go away while she hits warp 9. The best she has done was a mouth full of tail hairs but she still has hopes of crossing "fresh squirrel" off her bucket list.

Fun captures, Walt and that is the first I've seen or heard of a BTP, or come to think of it, a NF, on a bird feeder!! Thanks for sharing.

Hi Jedrick! Thanks for stopping by! Always glad to hear from you...This is the first time a BTP has been on my feeders...I remember seeing one other BTP 4-5 years ago but he stayed on my Holly Berry bush. I think the very heavy traffic I have been getting here has attracted many birds to come in....it is like Grand Central Station 4 hours in the morning, a bit slower in the Afternoon, then heavy again for the dinner hours! Sometimes it is 20-50 birds at a time all jockeying for a shot! I'm not complaining!

The one I loved has been the Bullock's Orioles! They almost never come down this low but I have had them 3 times posing for me! So pretty. As far as the Flickers they have always come for the suet primarily & the seeds second. I thought that was normal?

5 different Hawks are in the area & all have dropped in for a look or a meal...they always make my day. Enough rambling, glad you had fun looking! Take care, Walt

Hi Jedrick...well I have not seen a Baltimore Oriole or a Red Cardinal either! But I did get a rare Hooded Oriole 3 years ago that came up to my front porch & tried the Hummer feeders! Guess we all suffer somewhere.

I bought a new Rebel T8i camera this year & it has allowed me to capture more BIF pics because of the faster Frames per Second...and better stabilization software etc. I'm afraid I will wear it out the first year!.

Glad you visited ...stop bt anytime! Walt
