Excellent images, Ron. Only problem is picking a favorite.

Thanks John, I was just happy they all turned out OK at that speed and panning so fast...

These are nice. I am not a fan of the horizon bifurcating the bird and I think your best background is with #1. But, IMO, the best position of the bird is in #2. Maybe I am too picky, but with cameras that can give you multiple frames per second, that is the challenge: choosing YOUR favorite. The newer bodies are providing 30 FPS. Try culling through all those.

At 5 frames/second if you can select the optimal background, you are a better photographer than I am...

Taken over at Port Vincent Foreshore Caravan Park when we stayed there.
Nikon D500
Sigma 150-600mm (900mm = 35mm equivalent)
Hand held, there is no way I could have panned this fast using a gimbal.
This Crested Tern flew parallel to the beach and I just focused on the first shot and kept the shutter pressed (5 frames/second speed mode) and panned as it flew past about 50-70 meters away.
Not sure if I could do it again though...I always wonder what would have happened if I'd had the D500 set to 10 frames/second
Taken over at Port Vincent Foreshore Caravan Park ... (show quote)

Well done, Ron!
