Seems another date will soon arrive that changes the digital photography industry, changing how we think about mirrorless, how we think about photography, how we think about life...

What will be the reaction this time, while there's still time to read all about the mirrorless meteor on the photography sites, read about the sensors, the eye-tracking AF, the frames per second, the EVF? What would the DSLRinosaurs have done if they'd had all that lead-time to react?

The caterpillar thought it was the end of the world. But then, it was handed a Canon and became a butterfly.

With your spate of comments you have successfully created a Never Canon consumer. Given one, I'd sell it! I'd no more carry one than I'd wear a Rolex.

I have always looked at his comments as being tongue in cheek. Canon makes great equipment. Now that was NOT tongue in cheek.

I’m going to have to disagree on the Rolex. My wife gave me a stainless Submariner about 25-30 years ago, and it’s now worth about 10x what she paid for it. But most importantly, it works exactly like the day it was bought - never serviced, and I’ve worn it diving (to 100’), sailing and every day in the shower since - indestructible, and that’s the pleasure of owning a fine device, just like a good camera (Canon, Fuji and Mamiya in my case). Nothing to do with “bling”. I will pass it along to my son, just like my cameras.

Why would ANYONE wear their watch in the shower?? Doesn't your wrist appreciate getting washed?

A Rolex needs to be serviced once a year, mainly to lube the shafts that fit into the jewels.

I started my film camera journey in the mid to late 70's with a AE-1, and a F2, wonderful camera's. Seemed to me that all the pro's in that era where shooting Nikons.

Paul Simon knew this, when he sang "Kodachrome".

If one thing is revealed by this discussion, the branding industry is secure in their employment. As a sports shooter, and in answer to the original question, I anxiously await the arrival of the R3. Having not jumped in from the 1Dx series to the current Canon mirrorless market YET, I'm thinking this one might just get me over the hump.
No doubt, other manufacturers will have great choices coming as well, so enjoy what ever you shoot. Hint: makes it easier to enjoy if you still like to learn.

SLR...I started with Canon (FTB, AE-1, A-1,T90). Was very upset when the went to auto-focus and changed lens mount unlike Nikon. Then had NikonD70s and P7700, P7800. I acquired a Minolta film camera from a friend (Maxxum)..I then acquired a Sony A850 so I could use the Minolta glass. I loved it but after time it became way too heavy for me. I now shoot Sony mirrorless and am very happy. So much for brand loyalty!

I now happily use Canon FD lenses on Sony mirrorless, because at the time, Sony was the only mirrorless option to adapt these lenses to digital without destroying the original FD mount.

The best washer and dryer now is Speed Queen. Made in USA. Reminiscent of the old Maytags. You can even throw your Rolex in them.
