Have a chance to spend a day in NYC in the middle of September. Want to do some basic street photos, plus some iconic images such as Rose Reading Room, Oculus, etc. but mainly street scenes. What do you advise for a lens? Am considering the following, all Nikon: 28-300, 17-35, 70-200 and a Sigma ART 50mm 1.4 shoulder. Can be mounted to a D500 or D750. Thoughts? Thanks in advance for your input.
I am from NY and often took, and still take, street photographs. Take the D750; it is my favorite Nikon camera. I think that the 17-35 and the 50 would be fine I am not a fan of the 50 mm focal length (others are) but it is a fast lens and could prove useful. Just don’t carry around a lot of equipment. You will look like a tourist and will be vulnerable to thieves. I usually carry my camera in an Eastpak Fanny pack that I sling around my shoulder. I don’t mind getting close to my subjects, particularly people but if are concerned then the the longer zoom might be fine. My last trips I took a Leica (Type 109) or Fuji X series cameras. September is a really nice time to go there
