Been through lots of them. And yes, there is a "rule" about when to close them. I find them easy to open and usually quite hard to close! The loop at the bottom keeps it all together but can be a toe catcher.
Never caught a toe, but often pinch a shirt.

The Lopers get around, but mostly out on the flats. They don't like the canyons. Interesting, some of them and some deer will go through or under fences rather than jump.
