Thank you for the compliments, but why is studying snakes a sick curiosity? I think it shows a healthy respect for, and interest in, a valuable component of the natural world. I have a (perhaps not unreasonable) fear of a large tree falling over on me, but I don't hate trees. And they don't even warn you.

I got a good laugh out of your hypothesis! Not because I don't agree 100%, instead I realized how my wording was so erroneous in nature.
Yes, I have a very healthy respect for the serpents on this planet and I am fascinated by some kind of odd curiosity with them(at a distance).
Know your enemy?! Okay snakes are not enemies either, but, man do I get a start when I stumble across one.

I guess you can see why I was never on the debate team. I get a start too when encountering any snake; I'm sure we're all hard-wired to do that. And my curiosity about rattlesnakes may be odder than most people's, since I spend so much time getting photos of them.

Funny you mention speaking softly: I spoke to that snake the whole time I was taking photos. Not that it could hear me, though I supposed it sensed friendly vibrations.

And actually, bunnies and unicorns might be a nice change.

Your wish is my command. Here's a unicorn for you.

Beautiful! One of the best things I've seen on UHH. Thank you. Did this specimen just wander onto your porch, or do you set food out for it?

LOL!!! Very cute but I think instead of a unicorn horn he should have a halo. Much too cute to be any thing other than an angel.

I put food out. You may not know this, but unicorns are huge gluttons. They eat any kind of vegetable, and are very fond of apples and bananas. They'll even eat cantaloupe, but give me a dirty look. They eat grass once in a while, but only when they want a toxin cleanse of their system. Who knew they were so new-age?

They are cute, aren't they? I feel special to have this magical creature in my neighborhood. He does have a halo, of course, but I didn't get it in the shot. Maybe next time!

I generally don't put food out in front of my trail cameras, but I think I'll try the apples and bananas to see if I can conjure up a unicorn. As for the cantaloupe, I'd give you a dirty look too if you offered me one. How do your foxes react to the unicorn?

Good idea! Who knows what exotic animals might be lured out by a banana or two? Do you have Sasquatch in your area? Sadly, we don't, there aren't any forests here. Although we do have some primitive hairy beasts in bib overalls.

The unicorn was interested but respectful of the foxes, so they didn't interact. The foxes could see him plainly, and hear him with those amazing ears, but ignored him. They've all left home now. It's good hunting for mice and rabbits here, so I was hoping one of them would stay, but apparently not.
